Prelude
Tolen Farsight enters the long closed North chamber. Started during the construction of Pax Tharkus but left unfinished at the time of the Cataclysm. The Daewar engineer opens the sealed door and the path to Pax Tharkus is thus opened.
It is 69 miles from Thorbardin to Pax Tharkus, 5 days by walking.
Tolen sends his messenger to his crews and they make their way here. Their job is to make sure the tunnel is secure, and to finish any work that still needs to be done before the Infantry Forces enter.
The Engineer crews will then work from Pax Tharkus to Qualinost. The project is ambitious, but your Thane King has asked you to do this and how could you say no?
Within days, The Head Engineer declared the tunnel to be ready, and for the rest of the engineers to enter and marry up with the Pax Tharkus teams.

At the Pax Tharkus fortress
Garr Cutshank of Clan Theiwar moves along the western battlement and meets Vog Ironface of the Daergar in the empty observation room overlooking Qualinesti.
“The Wolverine delegation has arrived. Hammerfell has taken them below to the old meeting chamber.”
“I cannot believe Bellowgranite would make peace with these barbarian outlanders.” Vog says.
“The hunters did not return with the Wolverine son, in fact, they did not return at all. This has gotten to far out of hand, Bellowgranite should not have defied the council, he has made enemies of all the clans.” Garr observes.
“The elves do not deserve our help, they have squandered their time in the wood and gave it all to the knights. No, they will burden our race and seek to bring as down with them.” The Daergar spits.
“We must do something now; the Golden General is here is strike a bargain with Hammerfell and the Wolverine Dwarf, if the three ally then they may have a chance.” Garr says.
“I’m all for Beryl to get her ass kicked, but Dwarves won’t die for elven or human scum. If Bellowgranite gets us into his War I will have his head.” Iron faces swears on his beard.
The Theiwar smiles and talks further with the Daergar then leaves to return his underground chantry and prepares a spell with ill purpose.
Thorbardin,
Tarn Bellowgranite meets with his carried supporters and gives a rousing speech in the Great Hall and he is rewarded with support from the young and impressionable.
Only a few great heroes of veteran combat have come to the rally. They are here for honor and to do the right thing. They are dismayed of the small number of dwarves that actually showed up. A meager Army is raised under the banner of the Thane King and so named the Stonetooth Company, consisting of Infantry, cavalry, and engineers. Tarn’s loyal friend, General Ikarus is picked to lead the Company and volunteers rush to sign up. Urkhan worms have been diverted and are in the tunnels now, on their way to dig under Qualinesti.
The cavalry is made up in two parts. One being the Heavy Cav mounted on ponies and the Rapid Response Cav that is mounted on boars.
Tarn looked to the past tomes of Thorbardin to come up with ancient orders that served past Thanes An Elite group called the Order of the Golden Hammer once served Thane Stonetooth in the time of the Swordsheath. Tarn calls the Elite warriors forward and bestows this name on them. They agree to the honor and get their things ready for their mission north.
Tarn leaves the Grand Hall and makes his way to the Royal hospital to see his Regent, Zahkaar Forgemeld. Unknown assailants attacked Zahkaar days before, but sheriff Backsmasher has found little leads. Staunch Hammerfell volunteered to go after he found out of the assassination attempt on Forgemeld. Staunch formed a strong bond with the Lioness in the time they spent together in the wood, and Tarn thinks Staunch is smitten by her and her cause.
Zahkaar is given a 50-50 shot at pulling thru, and Tarn comes down after every working day to see his friend and Regent. Bellowgranite sees to Forgemeld’s family while Zahkaar is out, and sees they are provided for. Tarn then makes his way home to his loving wife.
Elsewhere in the Mountain,
Theiwar Regent Slade Toleck and Clan Warriors travel from Theibarden to this North Passage. Royal Guards bar their way to the passage itself. The Regent smiles and returns to this Thane, Ebonflame of the Theiwar and reports.
A short time later Slade leaves the Northgate and travels to a hidden glen. He brings forth a clarinet and plays a few bars of a tune. A Wyvern lands in the Glen a short time later and Slade attaches a scrollcase to the creature’s leg. He bids the Wyvern to leave and Slade journeys back to Theibarden.
