Chapter One The Play
Chapter One The Play
The Abyss
The Goddess of the Seas and Storms walks through what appears to be the Kingpriest’s Temple of Istar on a vast plain, surrounded by Mountains. She stands among the ruins of a city of Darkness. shifting through broken pieces of pottery and refuse. Getting more irritated by the second. She passes through arches and walks through the shells of buildings. It appears a dream that is being forgotten over time.
Zebolim is on a mission of personal benefit, looking for any trinkets or treasure of a certain kind. Artifacts, icons, lost relics. She has searched high and low to gather what she can, she realizes she is not alone and is instantly infuriated. “What are you doing here?”
The room shakes, shifts, and settles. Dust drops from the ceiling supports.
He is darkly handsome, with black hair, pulled back. He has black tall boots, and a debonair swashbuckling black shirt, with red and white accents.
“Now, now sister, Let’s not bring the house down on us with one of your tempests.”
“You are why I’m not finding anything of Mother’s. You’ve already collected and picked the bones of our inheritance." Zebolim accuses.
Nuitari smiles and jests “You are just being dramatic. Of course, I haven’t gotten everything, I’m more than willing to leave you the scraps.”
“Careful brother, I’m of a mood.” Zebolim answers darkly.
“As ever my sweet sister. This is not entirely a social visit, though I do treasure our short visits now and again. I have business to discuss.” Nuitari answers.
“Go on.” His twin allows.
“You and I are not the only ones on this hunt. Our dark brethren also swipe up our Mother’s Dark Gifts. As the High God has taken the Relics, Our Dark Mother’s Icons are some of the most powerful items left on Krynn. Do you really want Hiddukel, Chemosh or The Dark Wind (Morgion) and even worse our Father, who acts like he doesn’t care, but is on the hunt as well.” He pauses to make sure she is still following along, then goes on, “We have our minions, as does he, but his Devils are fast, and know exactly what to get.”
It just made her mad. “Damn him!” The Goddess of the Sea and Storms lets out.
“It’ simply inevitable. I will not serve under the others, or even you my ill-tempered sister. No, we just have to figure out how to deal with him, we have the inside track after all. Much as I hate to accept it.”
“We are related."
“Entirely so.” Nuitari states dryly.
“You know we aren’t the only one that were her kids.” Zebolim asks conspiratorially.
“You speak of our half-siblings, the demigods she begot. Haven’t they all been destroyed by now?” The God of Dark Magic remarks, almost disinterested, until he is. “Why do you ask exactly?”
“I may have heard our brethren were interested in the concept of absorbing their power." She answers in hushed tones.
"Now where did you hear that? Nuitari asks. No, fine don’t tell me. Keep your secrets sister and I will keep mine."
“Fine, its was Hiddukel.” His dark Twin answers unhappily.
“And you believed him, he is the trickster god, you know that right, the God of Lies.” Nuitari laughs.
“Stop laughing at me. What if it is true?” Zebolim asks.
“It isn’t. Don’t be soft.”
Zebolim explains the process as it was explained to her.
Nuitari comes away thinking of Vampirism, the Ogre Titan creation process, or Draconic cannibalism the Overlords practiced. Unnatural. It may not seem plausible, but that doesn’t mean it’s not possible. But something isn’t right. This doesn’t sound like the work of the Prince of Lies, this is Morgion thinking these dark plots up in his Brass Tower.
“How far along is this theory to becoming a fact? Nuitari asks his sister.
“They are hunting a demigod now. They are close.“ She answers.
