Kalana
4/7/07
You awake to the sound of waves and sand in your eye and in your nose and your mouth. You are obviously on a beach somewhere, but where?
Last thing you remember….
Last thing ….
Karnea . . .
Bloodsea Tower . . .
Mina . . .
Nuitari . . .
They are flashes, nothing more.
You know you were teaching at some point ago at the School in Joltan, but beyond that to now, you can not remember.
You get the sand off you and look at yourself. It is morning and the sun is starting to rise. You are wearing severely ripped up black robes and are barefoot.
You look around and see the immense Lord City of Gwynned, Seat of the Emperor of Imperial Ergoth. Now why the hell are you on the other side of the continent from where you were and why are you here?
Since you get no answers from anyone around you, what do you do?
Note: You are completely broke but you do have something in your hand. You’re old Spellbook. That can only mean he has forgiven you . . . right?
YES!
By Don
Seeing the spell book in her hands, Kalana sends up a quick prayer of thanks, both for his taking her back into his graces, and his generousity at giving her back her old spellbook. First things first. Time to memorize a few spells, just in case
Finding a nearby tree to sit under, she will memories her offensive and defensive spells. Now then, time to find a city, and perhaps.....a tower. That and to find out what the hell is going on around here.
Gwynned
By the DM
You memorize your spells and move into the City up the beach and start seeing people come down to the beach to sun themselves. You see the stairs they are coming from. You ascend the stairs and enter a gate. It is marked with glyphs bringing praise to Zeboim, goddess of the Sea.
DM NOTE: Can you send me a spell list please
You enter Lord City of Gwynned, a Metropolis of 32,304, formerly known as Tuskanvil - has been the Imperial capital of Ergoth since after the Cataclysm. It is located along the Dermount River, and is a port city where the river meets the Emperor's Bay on the Sirrion Sea. It is connected to Landfall to the northwest and Hillfort to the southeast by the Emperor's Road. The Emperor of Ergoth still rules from this city along with the Ergoth Senate.
The city was built overlooking the Sirrion Sea, with defenses to protect it from naval attack as well as sudden changes in the weather. Four watchtowers guard the perimeter of the main portion of the city and one major harbor juts out into Emperor's Bay. The city also has many gladiatorial arenas, opera houses, and many centers for artistic and academic pursuits.
You are getting hungry and can see you will be here a few days, you wonder what you are to do?
Whats Next?
By Don
Not knowing this place all that well, Kalana will start to wander the city, looking for a tower or other such place that mages would feel comfortable.

Guilds District
By the DM
After walking around the city for hours, you are tired, and hungry, and have gotten all kinds of unsure and disapproving looks from the denizens, you are not sure if it because you are wearing black in a city with White Marble and everything is pretty clean, or if it is that you are elven, or if it is because your robe is pretty ripped up. You walk into the Guilds District and eventually see words in Magius on an otherwise unmarked round building. It reads Guild Hall of High Sorcery. It is four stories, but seems a bit demeaning for a place for High Magic to be located.
At last . . .
By Don
Walking up to the building, Kalana will knock on the door, leaning on the door frame.
Guild Hall of High Sorcery
By the DM
The Doors open and beyond you see an Entry Chamber, with door beyond that. I take it that you step into the entry chamber, the door close behind you, and the room flashes blue all around you and then the doors in front of you open and you see a large hall, many times larger then you imagined, with tables and benches, where there are several wizards of low rank, writing in books or studying their spellbooks. They don’t look up to you when you enter, but a homely girl comes thru a central door, dressed as a commoner. “Are you hungry miss, thirsty?”
By the DM
While the girl is gone, you kind of feel like there is whispering going on, but it is not coming form any of the lower order wizards that you see…. Its something else….
The girl returns with a plate with a cover on it. She puts the plate on the table and lifts the lid. It is roasted duck with a light sauce. There is a fine salad with greens, and a pitcher of Sweetwater.
At Last….
By Don
Pouring a glass of water, Kalana drinks half of it before starting in on the salad. Finishing a few bites of it she looks at the girl. "What place is this? Where exactly am I? Who is the Master of this Guild? And where might I find some replacement clothing?"
Ellie
By the DM
This girl, your waitress, she seems, embarrassed by her homely looks, next to you, a elf, but to be asked in such a manner as you did, she speaks up a little and answers you. “You are in Lord City of Gwynned. The master is Franz Fallon, A White Robe Master. Um, I know where I can get you Robes, and I can talk to Master Velric to see that they are good robes, I mean, Robes that match your color, and be of great use to you my lady. Is the food good enough, there is stew in the back, and bread…. What can I do for you?
By Don
"Yes, the food is good, thank you" Finishing off her salad, Kalana will start on the duck. "And if you could get me the robes, I would very much appreciate it. But that is for after dinner." This one doesn't get much attention or appreciation. A servant, no more, no less. But if we fan the flames a little, make her feel someone values her for more then the servant she is...... "My road has been long, and without conversation. Please," Kalana gestures to the seat next to her "sit, and talk with me while I eat. Let us enjoy a simple conversation. For instance,...how do you come to work here? Where are you from? What is this city like in your experiences?"
Moving up
By the DM
“Um, I really can’t milady….I have work to do…. I will see Master Velric right away.
With a polite curtsey she is off to the Kitchen.
A young man in his late teens comes out a half a hour later with a set of Black Robes and shows you a room upstairs where you can stay.
You able to clean up with a room off from yours which allows you wash your body and then return to your room and change.
There is a bed, a desk, not unlike the rooms of Wayreth, but this is very plush, very rich.
About thirty minutes later there is a knock at your door. A black man stands outside your door ,He is robbed in Black with golden runes on his cuffs.
“Mistress, I am Velric, Master of the Black Robe of Ergoth. Welcome to the Guild of High Sorcery. Please, join me for diner miss…
The Lost Wars
By The DM
As you walk up the stairs and into a large Dining Hall that is much nicer then downstairs. He explains, “There was once a Tower of High Sorcery at Daltigoth, capital of the empire of Ergoth. Emperor Pakin III accepted its construction, even though the ergothians did not really consider magic as something useful. The Tower itself was created by pure magic. After setting the foundation stone, a column of flower petals was raised on top of it. When the enchantment finished, the tower, made of white stone, solidified.
The Tower itself was surrounded by a forest of oaks. Anyone nearing it would fall asleep.”
“During the Lost Wars, the Tower of Daltigoth was scheduled to be attacked after the Tower of Losarcum. However, Duke Serl convinced Emperor Gwynned to launch the attack five days earlier in order to obtain the first victory. The mages self-destructed the Tower and a quarter of Daltigoth with it.
The city was beyond broken and soon it was abandoned before the ogres attack and overtook the city.”
“The Cataclysm broke the nation of Ergoth in two, the empire went on and created Gwynned, a Metropolis has grown since the reign of Baridor Redic I who first established Gwynned in 30 AC. Daltigoth had been lost along with the southern part of Ergoth, and so Gwynned, as the former summer home of the emperors became the new home of the emperor.”
“Of course the emperors of recent years has not fully trusted Wizards of High Sorcery, nor the Populace. He are tolerated here, even greatly famous, but we control our way through the city, we are elite, but we most still know we are greatly feared by the populace, and fame and fortune and all come crashing down in a instant. This “Guild Hall” is much, much bigger then is seen from the outside.”
“We try not to be too imposing, but in the Future, when the time is right, the Conclave will vote, and We will raise a Tower to stand in greatness as we once did long ago in the Daltigoth.”
All this time, you have been eating sea food from the Sirrion Sea.
Jumbo Shrimp, Grouper, Clams and Oysters, and Lobster and Crab, it is delicious.
