Dalamar, Part 1
Real Time Roll Playing Session with Don as Kalana Hiewind.
At the Tower of Shoikan Grove, in the inner sanctum of the Great Wizard, Dalamar the Dark.
DM says:
So you stand in his presence for what seems to be an hour though you have no concept of time, as it is perpetual darkness outside.
Kalana says:
Looking over at him again, she will take a step forward. "Dalamar? It's me, Kalana"
DM says:
It is strange to be near him again. Of all the lovers you have taken in bed, he was the one to drive you to such heights, as if he used magic to heighten the experience.
Kalana says:
She will slowly walk up to him, laying an arm on his shoulder. "What is wrong with you..."
DM says:
To see how he has aged, he is still a young elf, being still nearly 300 years old; he has at least 700 years still in him.
Kalana says:
"What.... has happened?"
DM says:
He is catatonic, and does not seem to sense your presence despite what you do to his body, or how loud you yell at him.
DM says:
After a time
DM says:
Life returns to him, and he sits forward, as he receives his astral self.
DM says:
His eyes flutter open, and he looks drained.
Kalana says:
A smile will cross her lips. "Welcome back"
DM says:
He looks at you, his mind registers your presence, your words.
Kalana says:
"Have we been out on a journey again?" a mirthful smirk will slide onto her face.
Dalamar says:
"Greetings Kalana Hiewind, I see you found me."
Kalana says:
"It was not a pleasant journey, especially thru the grove, but that never is, now is it." She will pause a moment, once again looking at him, and observing how much he has changed since last they saw each other. "And how have you been?"
Dalamar says:
"How do you think?" He gets up, looks about his carnage induced living quarters. "I would offer you a place sit, but it would seem I haven’t one left." He moves, slowly across the room to an antechamber, where you think he may be relieving himself.
Dalamar says:
"And how are you Kalana? Still the caretaker of Dragonbane Tower I see."
Kalana says:
"While she is gone, yes. And you? You have changes since the time we last met. More in body then mind I see. What has been going on with you?"
DM says:
You hear the stream stop in the pot, and he walks back into the room, and his emaciated form walks to a Cupboard. He retrieves a bottle of wine, and beckons you to another antechamber. "Yes, I have changed, and not for the better."
Kalana says:
"And what brought about these profound changes, my friend?"
Dalamar says:
Once in the new room, he moves to a desk, and hovers his hand over a globe. It lights into a soft greenish glow that washes over the not as messed up room. "Life my friend. Choices, Mistakes, Revenge. All these things has done this to me."
DM says:
He finds two clean goblets at the mini bar in the corner, and pours two drinks.
Kalana says:
"And are you happy with the prices you have paid over the years?"
Dalamar says:
"Why are you here Kalana? Karnea dismiss you or something? Or is it that you have found yourself stumbling thru the halls of the world, without the sight to do anything about it?
DM says:
He hands you the goblet, and waves his hand to the couch against the wall.
Kalana says:
"Ah, I see that your disposition has not improved either." She will take the glass, and walk over to the couch, sitting down lightly so that she is turned in his direction. "Yes, I am here because there are things that I wish to ask you. And No, Karnea has not dismissed me, although I find your assumption that I would come running straight back to you like a lost little school girl more than a little....... offensive."
Dalamar says:
"You have always been easily offended my friend, but that stems from your lust of power, and your Psychosis of Inferiority. It comes from dealing with Wizards more power then yourself on a regular basis. We all make up for our shortcomings my friend, even I."
DM says:
He retirees onto an adjoining couch, and looks on you.
Kalana says:
"I like to think of it more as the fact I have a deep seeded ambition and a chip on my shoulder, but we all call what we see as what we see."
Dalamar says:
"Well met."
Dalamar says:
"You cracked the code, you figured out the puzzle, you detected your way to Nightlund, you found the River of souls, you found me. I am proud of you, no one has yet to find me here among the aspen grove."
Kalana says:
"A journey that most would have abandoned if they thought they had to travel thru the grove. You have found yourself the perfect hiding place. There are not many that would chance it, even to find the elusive Dalamar."
Dalamar says:
"We are all eccentric in our on ways are we not my dear? It does not change the fact that Magic is leaving, more so every day."
Kalana says:
"Which is why I have come. Do you know the cause of this dwindling? If so, do you know a way to counteract it? If not, then do you know a way to circumvent it?"
Dalamar says:
"So many questions my dear, isn’t those things what we are all wondering? Great forces are at work, that much is clear. Somebody is obviously taking the magic for himself or herself, someone who is manipulating events to their liking, and getting away with it. All that has happened as of late is all going according to someone’s will, and we are all pawns, everyone of us."
Kalana says:
"And none of us can find a way around it, let alone thru it." A sigh will escape her lips, flowing out in a short quite little burst. "I fear that we that have touched the magic are soon to be mute from its touch very soon, and possibly for all time."
Dalamar says:
"Yes, scary isn’t it?" He will take a drink, "I don't know who is doing this, but it would seem a deity has decided to weave a tapestry. I say that because who else would have the power to do such things? And all of us would seems to be affected, Wizards, Dragons, Overlords, Mystics, Skull Knights, all one in the same, losing power, and soon, we will be defenseless
Dalamar says:
“Not an Appetizing proposition."
Kalana says:
"And then those that have never held the power we did, they will want to seek retribution against those that did them wrong. And I know, I stepped on my fair share of toes."
Dalamar says:
"If some fool farmer or sagging bar wench had the power to do this to us, to me, I would have killed them already. No, I have searched the width and berth of this world, and found no mortal cause for this happening. The very fact that the Overlords are losing their powers suggests something more is responsible. The Overlords are the most powerful creatures on the planet right now; they have shaped sub continents to their will. Their magic is, was, the greatest power, anywhere on Krynn, and now it is nothing in the face of what is taking our power."
Kalana says:
"I was afraid of that. Then some deity has come, and decided that they want he power of magic all to themselves."
Dalamar says:
If things weren’t so going so according to an apparent plan, I would suspect the All-Father, Chaos was reasonable."
Kalana says:
"The failing of magic is too........ normalized. It is not sporadic. It is a constant, and it is equally wide spread. This is the work of a god, and we are in for it now."
Dalamar says:
"Whoever it is, they have a sick sense of humor."
Kalana says:
"And I wish they would let us all know what the hell they all wanted."
Dalamar says:
"Oh I'm sure we will find out what and why exactly when "They" are good and ready. We are working off of someone else's time table, herded exactly where "they" want us."
Kalana says:
"And I don't like it. Don’t like it at all. But...” she will finish her drink. "What else can we do but play along? Nothing. Just sit back and wait for it to come."
Dalamar says:
" I suspect the advent of Mystic and Sorcery Magics was introduced by this "someone" a long time ago, shortly after the beginning of the "Age of Mortals", The River of Souls here in Nightlund started off by my choosing. You remember I said I made choices, and you asked if I was happy with those choices?"
Kalana says:
"Yes, I remember."
Dalamar says:
I thought I was happy. With the magic the Shadow Sorcerer taught me, I became the most powerful Necromancer, this world has ever seen. I reveled in my newfound Magic. He was happy to teach me the new Magic, and I was only too happy to learn it. Over time, I found out my life force ebbed, the more I used the magic, the greater my successes, the more life was taken from me. My withered appearance is not an fashion statement."
Kalana says:
"And now that sacrifice is for naught, since you are losing the very thing you gave to much for." Kalana will slowly shake her head. "This is a greater tragedy then the cataclysm."
Dalamar says:
"You asked how I feel, and I didn’t respond, yes, I feel like I have suffered my own Cataclysm. One every day, when the command of magic is taken from me. I take heart in thinking whoever it is, they fear us and what we can do."
