Wolverine Battle Campaign of Winter 37 S.C. The Goblin Menace -DM Posts General Galzin sweeps into and stands in the Lord’s chambers of Wolfgaard. Galzin looks out the forward balcony and feels the triumphant part as The General of The 6th Goblin Horde of Beryllinthranox the Green Overlord of Abanasinia. Sure it took thousands of troops, but we got here. He hears the boots of the newest Lord Dark Knight Advisor from Qualinost. Lord Blackmore of the Lily has only just arrived from Qualinesti. “General Galzin, what is this about Lord Fronath disappearing?” The goblin looks at the Dark Knight, think of the different scenarios of killing the usurping bootlicking Knight. “He left on his own business, apparently believing his own mission was more important then Overlord Beryl’s planned takeover of this Vale.” “I don’t think I like your tone General. I am told that Akil Fronath was following official Knighthood business.” “Perhaps it was Grey Robe Business, but I don’t really care. The Horde could have used his help during the Plague, and the taking of the Keep.” “You had Dark Knight Support, why are you complaining?” “I had support from soldiers under field commander Sir Daroth then anyone else. He rallied the troops when all locked like we would fail because of the Wolverine Attacks. Of all the Knights of this Talon, he is the greatest among you. And the Dragons that came was not because of you, Great Beryl sent them to help us, they were a deciding factor.” “I’m sure Sir Daroth will include his own role in the report when I see him,” The Lord walks around the room, “This will do.” “Your Damn right, it’s good, good enough to be my Throne Room! My people died, I get to sit here, and launch our strikes.” The Lord looks at the 30 other Goblins in the near vicinity to his person, and takes leave to stake out another location for the Knights to set up shop. The Hardened General Halkk, the 2nd in Command of the Horde steps forward, “We have done it. Long ago did we see this Human Base be delved, and we got it! True it should be you great General to take the seat of honor at the table of Victorious. Galzin unsheathes and lifts the blade known as the Sword of Pain to the air. “We stay ready to stop the advancing army outside. We must hold the Keep now at all costs!” Later, Major Dallik, 12th Divisional Commander walks up the stairs to the Lord’s chamber when he hears a frightful explosion. The Hobgoblin runs up the stairs and into the Lord’s Hallway and sees the front glass shattered. He looks to see the Wizard’s Tower in the town below is no more. He sees Goblin Generals Galzin and Hallk taken cover behind the throne. It would later be found out that the Dark Knight Leadership save Skull Knight Gannon Dirge, entered the tower to use as Base Camp. Military Advisor Major Glock Lands on the battlements of Wolfgaard Keep. Having just returned from the Dragon Raids with The Dragon, Midnight, who serves as Beryl’s chief spy. The Bozack Draconian known as Major Glock passes the goblin guards on his way to Galzin. Once arriving into the throne room, he bows to Galzin. Master Beryl is pleased with your work Galzin. Any survivors?” “We have sixty-three knights and commoners that we have kept for slaves. They are in the Dungeons which are quite secure.” “Once the Keep is refortified, we will send in resupply via our Dragon Friends.” “That is reassuring and I thank you Major. The Wolverines have many, many troops, but we still have the numbers on them. We believe they have a Dragon. It was seen many times by our Air Navy, and our scouts.” We saw nothing of this Dragon you speak of, but that will be reported to Herself. I will let Midnight rest a little before returning, Let us drink to our victory.” Draconian Information: Bozaks are the magic-using Draconians derived from the eggs of Bronze Dragons. They are quick-witted, shrewd, and ruthless. Bozak are just over six feet tall and are covered with bronze-colored scales. They have dull yellow eyes and gray teeth. Aside from the Sivak, the Bozak is the only draconian that can actually fly, albeit only for a single round. Because flight requires a great effort, its movement rate in the air is 6. Not only can it glide like other winged Draconians, it can sustain the glide indefinitely in a strong wind. On cold days, Bozaks spread their wings to increase exposure to the sunlight. On warm days, they slowly flap their wings to generate cool breezes. Elsewhere in the Keep- The Goblin Captain Caul, Frontline Commander, and his 1st Sgt. Kellth. Hobgoblin War Sgt. who Bears the Sword of Hell's Fury. They’re unit has the night off and they are drinking tonight!! For the last 5 years, this has been the goal, to take Wolfgaard Keep. Work detail is going on. Clearing the rubble and dead bodies. Hunter killer teams with Dogs are going house-to-house and room-to-room searches for possible human stragglers. Skull Knight, Gannon Dirge looks out onto the frosted night, and at the single moon of the Age. His thoughts are insidious, and satisfying. He readies his Horse, and rides to North Pass. It is a Months supply, it should help out a little, and we are working out a plan for the next shipment, we are bartering supplies from Shalifum, a Island of the coast of Nordmaar, it is a Merchant sailors cove. There is something else I need to report…We tried to make planet fall on the Planet Chislev to get food, and clean water…It was a illusion…the planet is not there, nor is Reorx, Sirrion or the Stellar Islands. I don’t know what this means, In my youth, I traveled to these places, they were real then, but now…” Voltros looks down, then back up, into your eyes, “There is a planet here, in this system, it is clouded from view, I sent two ships down to investigate, they did not return. This Ship was buzzed by what I can only describe as a Giant Dragon, The Biggest I have ever seen. It was at least 150’ long.” Soon, Granitehammer receives a weak mental call, from Berra. “ The 374th Archery Brigade is on its way to you, they report the City of New Ports have been abandoned, almost, overnight, by the Minotaur. No Enemy presence left there. Also, the Goblin Caravan has retreated, and most of them are beat.” Well, that’s a good thing I suppose, best damn new I’ve heard all week. Granitehammer curses under his breath. "Well, I suppose it's time." Calling for his messenger, he tells the newly arrived rider "Escort my messenger to 1st Armored Cavalry (*) headquarters and then return to your post." When the messenger arrives, Dougan quickly writes a message, rolls it up and seals it with his personal seal. Handing the scroll case to the messenger, he says "Eyes-only, Commander, 1st Armored Cavalry. Flash Priority. Go!" Once the messengers are away, Dougan summons his staff to brief them on the orders he just gave: "Gentlemen, effective five minutes ago the Wolverines are committed to battle at Wolfgaard Keep. We have received information that the main gate of the Keep has exploded and the goblins are overrunning the structure. Without our assistance, the defenders will die to a man. I have ordered 1st ACR to advance with all due haste on the Keep, and to engage and destroy all goblin forces encountered there. I estimate that first contact with the enemy will occur in one and a half hours. Casualties are expected to be in the 25-30% range. Goblin prisoners are not expected, and the orders I gave discourage the taking of them. Our objective is to take the Keep, and reinforce the area around it. Until the fighting is over at Wolfgaard, all other units are to stand to and hold position. Now, we all have work to do, so let's get to it."
(*) 1st Armored Cavalry is the closest unit to the Keep, per previous instructions given to 1st Armored Division, pre-invasion.
DM Post
Orders go out, and the Wolverines give out a quiet cheer to be moving, to meet the enemy, to win. This Morning is overcast, and there is a chill in the morning air. the inch of snow has melted over the last couple of days, leaving the ground muddy, but not overly so.
2nd Armored Core moves out, and within 40 Minutes they encounter a pitched battle between Solamnics and Goblin ambushers. The help 2nd Armored provides is welcome, and the battle is over in 18 minutes. Word is sent back to General Granitehammer, that The mounted Solamnics were ordered to divert south to link up with Wolverine Forces.
Among the Solamnics are Wolverine Special Forces, commanded by Major Sabot, says he has detailed plans of Keep, and advance recon report to give to command. Sir Wolfgang, son of Lord of the Keep is also coming back to you to exchange viable information.
2nd Armored secures the road to Gateway, and meets more resistance from Goblin-kind.
Granitehammer, you are receiving situation reports of the opening salvo of the 2nd Armored movements. They have secured Gateway, and are currently engaging the enemy as they move north. Solamnic Knights from Wolfgaard Keep have linked up with 2nd Armored, and are providing information on what is further north.
Your squire reports to you Granitehammer, that Brigadier General Chance Trotta, (C.O. of the Wolverine Special Forces based on Krynn), is outside your tent requesting admiral.
When you see him, he salutes, and reports his Special Forces detachment, under command of Major Eider Sabot has returned from Wolfgaard Keep, and reported his findings.
"Eider says that the goblins seems to be afflicted with a decease , which is causing body parts to fall to the ground, the goblins are in bad shape, but the Dark Knights have razed the goblins into a Blood frenzy, and they are fighting with fury. They have Wolfgaard Keep, and there is fierce fighting on the outskirts of Solace."
"Major Sabot has had to leave on a personal matter, vital to the Irda Race. He promises to return with all due haste."
Adam Post
After hearing Lt. Gen. Trotta's report on the happenings in the battle area, Dougan calls for his operations and intelligence officers to report to him. When they arrive, he passes on what the Special Forces have learned about the situation at Wolfgaard and Solace. He orders them to find out what they can about the Dark Knights commanding the goblins, and gives orders that the Wolverines are to begin specific targeting of the Dark Knight officers in future engagements. He also asks for specific intelligence on the number and type of enemy troops involved in the fighting at Solace. After speaking with his staff officers, he spends several minutes alone in his tent, studying the maps and troop dispositions; looking for something he might have missed in the previous thousand times he has done this. Rubbing his eyes, Dougan says under his breath, "And just when was the last time you had a proper meal, General? I suppose you can run this war all winter on an empty stomach. Bah! The boys in the field need the food more than I do, anyway. Damn this winter!" Suddenly, a thought occurs to him, causing him to jump up from his seat and run back to the map table. After a quick inspection to verify his memory, Dougan bellows for his messenger, recieving a prompt response. To the runner, he says, "Get me Admiral Voltros on the double! And find General Hjortarian as well. Have them both meet me here as soon as possible." After the runner departs, Dougan walks back to his comfortable chair, lights a pipe, and smiles. "This might just work, after all."

General Hjortarian, you have been on the ground for 20 minutes, after being aloft for five hours, doing what you can, to help the Knights and flying wingman for the advancing 2nd Armored.
You departed the battle to pick up a stag on the backside of Solace vale, while looking for the undead army on the East Flank. They have vanished.
Having finished eating, and getting a cup of coffee, you feel it in your duty to give a report at the progress of the Advance from your perspective. A Runner comes to you out of breath. His heavy breathing shows up like clouds of smoke in the chill air.
"Sir . . . . . . General . . . Granite . . . Hammer . . . Wants . . . you . . . ASAP!"

General Maximus Hjortarian arrives at the Tent of Granitehammer, as the Minotaur giant, Admiral Voltros rounds the bin. "General, good to see you again." The Guard alerts Granitehammer, and the two of you are allowed inside.
Col. General Granitehammer -Adam Posts
Once Voltros and Hjortarian are inside, Dougan gives them a quick briefing on the current situation, pointing out the relevant areas of battle and the disposition of the forces at each. He leaves the situation at Solace for last. "Now, gentlemen, here is the last area under attack," he says, pulling out the detail map of the Solace area. The goblins and Knights are attacking all along this front, and the town will fall soon if something is not done. We cannot allow the enemy access to the town, as it controls the only decent road between here and the north coast. What I have in mind is this," he looks to Hjortarian. "First, we need some aerial strikes on the enemy positions to slow down their attack." Turning to Voltros, he says "And then I need a troop transport to drop the 382nd Heavy Infantry Brigade in to defend the town. Maximus, if you can shake some rangers from the 241st loose to give a hand, please do. I have already deployed the 2nd Armored Regiment north to assist, but it will be several days before they arrive, and that might be too late to save Solace. "This operation will serve two purposes: it will deny the enemy a strategic position in the region, and it will expand our perimeter to give us access to ports in the north from which we may resupply our forces. I don't need to tell you how critical this last point is...we are in a very tight logistical position, and any improvement in this situation is welcome. "Now, if there are any questions, I'm glad to answer them. If not, then we have work to do."
Admiral Voltros -DM Posts
Admiral Voltros looks at the map, then looks up. "It is a sound plan General. I have 5 ships that has earth landing capability. I will have them moving on a rotating basis, to move as much man and Machine as possible. My other Ships will support your Air Attacks General Hjortarian, as well as provide air security for the transports. I can shake loose a couple of ships to air deploy Ranger teams."
He writes out quick orders.
Voltros gets up, and goes to the tent entrance. "Marqi!!"
"Yes sir."
"Give these to my runner, give them to Commodore Kolos, tell him to coordinate these orders with the Fight Captains."
"Yes sir."
Marqi takes off, and follows the commands of his Leader.
Voltros turns to his comrades. I will stay with you, to see if there are any changes before we enact the plan.
-General Hjortarian- David Posts
He studies the map intently, and at last nods. Whether in agreement or satisfaction, he does not say. Instead he walks to a writing table set at one side of the tent.
"May I borrow paper and ink?" He asks General Granitehammer. At the Dwarven General's nod, he sits, and begins writing out orders. After several minutes, he picks up the sand shaker, and dusts the sand across the pages. Calling for a Page, he hands the now wax-sealed documents over to he man, with instructions to deliver them to the appropriate Commanders in the Airborne.
"That should take care of that, for starters, anyway." He says to his companions.

The runners are off and soon make it to their respective officers. Commodore Kolos, a hulking minotaur, also from the bloodsea Isles, reads the orders, and grunts his satisfaction. His aide is standing next to him, and Kolos says, "Get the Captains over here, have them get the crews worked up, we are moving out in 30 minutes.
Leia Starblade, Maximus’s 1st officer, receives the Message. She issues quick orders to the flight teams and the 241st Ranger battalion to report to the Spelljammer landing field.
The 382nd Heavy Infantry Brigade was on alert status for the last two days. They are handed their orders. When the Brigade Commander tells them that they are going into harms way, they give a cheer, and get their units ready for transport.
25 Minutes later, The Spelljammers land at the resupply area, and find the 382nd waiting on them.
The 241st Ranger battalion shows up at the Resupply field as well, and helps load machine and equipment on board the Air Ships.
Lady Joan of the Wolverine War Wizard Regiment walks with her staff up to Granitehammer's tent.
The 2nd Armored Regiment. A proud and noble Military detachment, with a long proud and noble military history. They were shock troops against the two dissenting Queens of Marika, and rode on the Spelljammer ships, and boarded the Enemy Neogi Mind Spider Ships, and dispatched the enemy as quickly and bloody as possible. They were there at Arimal, with its sharp peaks and rugged terrain in the 10th year of Zeva’s return to Soreel Space. They helped quell the deadly Clan Wars that had plagued that World for so very long. All of this is to say, they have served their General-Queen with all their heart and soul, and body.
They are now on a lonely road, traveling North into harms way again. The Goblins that all the forces have been readying to fight, well, now it is time to get the job done. The plans have been made, and they have a General that cares about them in General Granitehammer. Col. Sonah, a middle-aged woman of fine military family breeding, commands the 2nd Armored, and the men and women love her. She is a hardened Bitch. She is loved and respected for her tenacity and Iron Will. She loves her force, and makes sure it is running with precession, and perfection. She drills them into the ground, and the troops ask for more. It is like the prefect marriage.
The 2nd Armored has run into scant resistance, but expect they are being led into false security. The 2nd Armored are fine soldiers, but they have been trained to berserk when the time comes, so it is of little bother that the goblins are playing mind games with them.
They are near Wolfgaard, and scouts have returned with the forward situation of the state of the Keep. A large hole in the ground in front of the keep will stop the forward momentum from the forward advance of the 2nd Armored. Engineer teams will have to be brought up to span the large blast hole. All the while, Goblins will be attacking from the keep with barrage of Arrows. Not a happy thought. But there is a mission to accomplish, and that is what is going to have be done, just on Sonah’s terms. The next day, the 2nd will attack, and to hell with the goblins. Air Riders are sent back to Granitehammer to apprise him of their situation.
Meanwhile, The Spelljammers are sent North on the backside of the Solace Mountains, to mask their approach. They land in the fields north of Solace, and the 382nd Heavy Infantry Brigade marches down the road that Raistlin and Caramon Majere once took to back to Solace from Raistlin’s school. The Road takes them to the tree city of Solace. The 241st Ranger battalion covers the flanks, and watches for Goblins.
The Town folk are on edge. Now they have a Army to their north, and they are coming here! Knights of Solamnia, who are posted here to support the town, and defend the Tomb of the Last Heroes meet with Lord Thomas Pell of the newly arrived Wolfgaard Knights, to see if a Detachment can move North to ascertain the intentions of this Army.
A Group of twenty Knights are pulled from the front lines and sent north to confront the Northern Army.
The Spelljammer Ships ready for an attack on Goblin positions in a few Hours. It will not matter to the 2nd Armored.

Leaving her mount to his dinner, she strides across the mustering ground, to General Granitehammer's tent. Stopping before the guard, she gives her name and rank, and awaits the General's acknowledgement to enter.

I examined the remains of some of the Solamnics, and that of the Special Forces team of Major Sabot. They were infected by the goblins when they penetrated the Keep. I am sure that the biological agent is killing the goblins, but our troops are at risk should the goblins that don't die immediately, build a tolerance, and become carriers of the agent. I built the bloody bug too damn well General. I have an antidote, but what of our forces already in the field?

All side conversations in the tent cease on the war wizard's news. Dougan gives Joan a stern look, his expression no match for his true feelings. Standing up and walking toward his visitor, he says, "You mean to tell me that you have put an entire regiment at risk of being consumed by this disease?! Yob tvoyu mot!" Son of a bitch! Turning to his operations officer, Dougan spits a rapid series of orders. "Tell the 1st to sit tight. They are not to advance on the goblin positions. Inform them of the biological threat and tell them that they are to avoid unnecessary contact with the goblins until further notice." Walking to the tent flap, he sticks his head out and says to the sergeant outside, "Ask General Hjortarian to join me in half and hour." Back inside he says "We'll see if Maximus has any ideas on how to defend against dragon attack." Whiriling on Joan again, he says, "And you. You say you have and antidote? I suggest you start distributing it. You will personally deliver the doses to the 1st Armored Cavalry. Do not report back to me until every officer and man in the regiment has gotten the antidote. You are dismissed." Dougan watches the wizard depart, already drafting in his head the report recommending her court martial. The tent is abuzz with activity once more, with the operations staff writing the orders that will idle one of the army's finest regiments and turning them into sitting ducks for dragon attack. Plague-ridden sitting ducks, Dougan, the general thinks to himself. He couldn't do anything more than that at the moment. Remembering his other visitor, he turns to Merrilee. "You had better have better news than Joan, Colonel. What news?" he asks the mercenary leader.

"Well, General," She says "to start with, the refugees of Wolfgaard have made it safely away from the Goblin hoards, and are in the process of getting settled in their new homes." She pauses "Also, Lady Lashia Arbagon, my mother, gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl." She shakes her head "Other than that, I am afraid I have no other good news. In fact, I came to see how things stood here, and" She looks at Nebris, then turns back to Gen. Granitehammer "to learn the fates of Lord Wolfgang and the final Defenders."
Nebris steps forward. "General, I may be able to help you with this plague." He says, "With your permission, I would like to assist Mistress Joan."

"At least there is some good news here. So, the refugees are safe for now...at least until those damnable dragons find them. Our forces have taken quite a beating from those great flying lizards. "As for Lord Wolfgang and his men, I'm afraid there isn't much good to say. We have not heard anything from any of the defenders of the keep since the horde overtook them. We presume they are all dead. I'm sorry."
Looking the druid over, Dougan nods. "Approved. If you can help, and are willing, by all means. She should be at her tent now getting ready to depart. If you require any supplies, tell the quartermaster and he will see to your needs. Good luck, son. If you will excuse me..." The general turns to his staff. 20 Minutes Later, General Hjortarian, you are on your way to Meet General Granitehammer. Tried to catch up on sleep, been flying sorties for days now. Too late, you recognize a scent on the wind.
A Griffin rider also notices too late a giant red descending silently upon him.
The Red Sweeps in on the camp, letting Dragonfear do its work, then torches the East Barracks in a flyby, then turn north into Solace Vale.
The Barracks are set ablaze in an explosion of 96 points of damage. Granitehammer hears screaming, and shouting outside and goes to the tent opening, He sees the blaze a field over.
General Hjortarian, it looked to be a Venerable Age Red Dragon. 1,050 years old.
Shortly Dougan, you find out that the water has been befouled in the Eastern supply Area, yours is okay and the Rest of camp is all right.
Dragons Come -DM Posts
The Dragons come in the night.
Lightning rains down on the 2nd Armored, acid drips onto tents and flesh. The troops try to counter attack, but the arrows bounce off the armored dragon scale. The Goblins shout with laughter and glee at the Wolverine’s misfortunate. Sonah curses up to the sky! She orders the troops to disperse but to return by Morning, ready for some revenge. The Order to disperse only gave the troops a way out, to not be cluttered together, and a chance to run with honor because of the Dragonfear sweeping over the troops. The Attack lasts for an Hour. Spells and breath Weapons are thrown onto the 2nd Armored. And it is a humiliating defeat and demoralizing night for all the 2nd Armored.
After leaving General Granitehammer’s H.Q., Nebriss hugs and kisses his sister goodbye for now, and sets out for Lady Joan’s Workshop, on the outer fringe of the camp. He runs into a group of Solamnic Knights, who direct you to Sir Wolfgaard. You speak to him, but find him much younger then you expected, but then remembered that Lord Wolfgang had a son, and Sir Wolfgaard is Raine’s father. He is alive and mildly injured. He tells you of Wolfgaard’s fall, and the battle plan to spilt from his father’s Company, to come here to the Wolverines, to plan the counter attack. He also speaks of the horrid conditions of the Goblins when they attacks, apparently there was a plague used. Just some of the men were affected, but he fears the other group had the heaviest fighting may be in worse shape.
---
Meanwhile -Marilee is in for the night. She is pumped up after seeing the Red Dragon Attack, but was not in position to do much about it and you have had very bad experiences with dragons, not that you are scarred of them, but have almost died in every experience you have had with Wryms. The Dragon left in a hurry also, like it was all timed in the Dragon’s satisfaction. Great, they just fucking with us.
It is cold, and there will probably be a lot to do tomorrow. Your stint so far has been light. But every since the group returned from the past and the battle, we have returned to all the fighting here. It’s a lot closer to home, then one would like. The recent week of getting the refugees to safety proved to be light duty, and you have been around the game long enough to know to be careful what you wish for. No, you reckon you will see heavy duty any day, and then you’ll be wishing for bloodless days again.
--- General Granitehammer evaluates the current situation. Word has been taken to the Advance Calvary detachment on their orders to stand down. A strike by a Red Dragon, and several hits on the Advance Cav has made it abundantly clear that we are going to be facing heavy fighting against Enemy Chromatic Dragons. Every color has been documented, from the most recent Red, to the earlier Green, This Overlord Bitch has friends, and this coming battle is going to be one for the Ages, if we live thru it.
You meet with Sir Wolfgang, whom clarifies the defeat of Wolfgaard.
His Father is Lord Wolfgang, and he led a full frontal attack on the main opposition, to give his company time to link up with the Wolverine Army to report what happened, and to plan a Solamnic counter attack. No word is given on Lord Wolfgang’s current situation. The Goblin plague was had a disastrous effect on the Knights of Wolfgaard. The men were affected by the plague, and many succumbed to it in defense of the Keep. The Goblins streamed in the blown open gate, and invaded unexpectedly on the Night before our planned counter assault. We were taken unawares and it cost us dearly. Estimated 2150 dead or wounded, out of 4000. The enemy’s numbers at last estimated to 14,000. Sir Wolfgang declares that they will join you in a any military campaign you are embarking on, but if the Wolverine army is not planning on insuring the freedom of Solace, then we will have to depart ways.
---
After Nebris meets Sir Wolfgang, he continues to the workshop of the chief war wizard of the 2nd army of the Wolverines.

General Hjortarian, you make it to Granitehammer’s H.Q.
You cuss in ancient Dragon at the attack of the Red.
Maximus -Posted by Dave
"He was testing our defenses, Dougan." Maximus spats "Cursed Reds!" He casts a baleful eye to the Dwarven General "They're as dumb as a box of rocks, but they're so damned powerful! Their stupidity aids them in recon missions like this, because they're too empty-headed to realize they might not come back from such a mission!"
He begins to pace, his hands clasped behind his back. "He was acting on someone's orders. Beryl's, ultimately, of course. But, obviously, they wanted to test our defenses for weakness. And, just as obviously, they found one. A major one." He stops midstride, and turns to Gen. Granitehammer "We've known from the outset that we were vulnerable to Dragon attacks. Unfortunately, now they know it, too. The question is, what do we do about it?"
Granitehammer -Posted by Adam
Looking at his human-appearing companion, Dougan says, "The problem with these dragons is that they fly too damned fast for our warwagon crews to aim at them properly. But, I have a plan to alleviate that. 1st Regiment has a total of 1,792 warwagons, all equipped with medium ballistae. Now, they can only be elevated to 45 degrees, but with proper sitting that can be increased to 60 degrees. What I propose is that the next time one of those damnable lizards flies over, we have a volley of 896 ballista bolts in the air to greet it. If that doesn't do the trick, then the next volley of 896 goes up while the first group reloads. One of them has got to hit, and that'll shake their confidence. If we manage to kill the beast, even better. Matter of fact, if they lose a dragon, they may think twice about sending another one. "Now, as soon as Joan reports that the 1st ACR has received the antidote, they are going to push on Wolfgaard and bring it down. 3rd ACR is standing by to assist is need be, and then 1st Armored Division is going to make Wolfgaard their command post, with 2nd Armored Regiment providing area security. "I'm also concerned about our boys up in Solace. I want the Navy to assist with moving more units up there....maybe send the 374th Archery Brigade to reinforce the 382nd." Looking to his XO, he says, "Redgar, I want you to go up there and meet with the locals and tell them we're on their side. If need be, we can post all of the 3rd Infantry Division at Solace. "Finally, I need further verification that the town of New Ports is enemy-free. If we find out that it is, I want to send 2nd Mobile Infantry there to hold the town and surrounding environs against any enemy movements out of Qualinesti. "Maximus, 2nd Light Infantry from the 3rd Army is all yours. Post 'em where you need them, but I want all of our troops off the Spelljammers and on the ground ASAP. I don't like the reports Navy's been giving me about what's going on in orbit. "I'm going up to 1st Armored Division's HQ to talk to the boys there. Forward all message traffic there until I return. Let's get to it."
Redger Posted by Don
Redgar will leave H.Q. and grab 2 messengers. "You" he will point to the first "take this message to the commander of 2nd Special Forces Brigade......I want a squad sent to New Ports. Recon ONLY...make SURE that is understood. I want to know if any enemy forces are left there. If SO, then I want numbers, movement cycles, and routes of any supply lines that they might have. I will want THAT particular info A.S.A.P. But make damn sure they understand that under NO circumstances are they to engage the enemy, nor let the enemy know of their presence in the area. Once they got the intel I want, tell them to hot foot it back here, and either tell me or General Granitehammer directly. No couriers, no messengers. Now then, if NOT, and they better be damned sure about it, then I want them to get in contact with 2nd Mobil Inf. and tell them to get off their duffs and take position in that town, securing the town, and a surrounding area of a 3 mile radius. Once 2nd Mobil takes the town, I want word immediatly if not sooner. Got all that?" Redgar will wait for the messenger to repeat it all back to him correctly. "Good, now get at it." "And you," he points to the second messenger "I want you to go to the commander of 3rd Inf Division, and tell him to get his ass to Solace. Tell him that I am on my way, and he better be there when I get there, or I will put my boot in 'is ass when he does arrive. Got it?" Once again, Redgar will listen to the messenger repeat every word back to him. "Good, now you get at it too." With this done, he will make ready to leave, giving his messengers a little bit of a headstart, then leave himself for Solace.
General Hjortarian Posted by Dave
The Dragon General nods to his commanding officer. "Too much has been going on in the last 36 hours," he shakes his head, "I'm going back up for another recon sweep. I want to see exactly how things stand overall." His gaze levels "Unless I am mistaken, we're starting to spread ourselves a little thin. I just want to make sure for myself precisely where to place the third infantry." With a second, deliberate nod to his Superior, General Hjortarian nods to the others, and leaves the command tent.
2nd ACR -Posted by the DM
By Morning, The troops return to their position, and find scores of Wolverine bodies litter the Solace Vale road.
In all, 46
Dead. 46 Wolverines dead, because there is no real good defense against the might and power of a Dragon. This is a clusterfuck, Antari Sonah thinks. How are we going to do this? Big gaping hole, 30 feet deep, across the road, and blocking us from attacking the Keep. Okay Sonah, think unconventionally . . . Think . . . Shit.
"Captain Davin, Bring up the catapults, align them here, here, and here. Sgt. Hualer . . . I need wood. I know we aren’t supposed to cut into Darken Wood, but we have little choice. We need shields from enemy fire. Flag down a Air Cav, and take this list of supplies back to H.Q. we need this equipment stat.
"Sgt. Matthews, I want the Ballista right over here, when you see the Dragon come in, I want it's head for our Regiment's trophy."
Field Journal Report of the 2nd Armored Cav.
Col. Sonah realizes it is dawn, and all everyone is doing is looking at all the dead comrades, goblins, Knights of Solamnia and Neraka that lay across this valley floor.
The chasm is full if dead bodies, frozen in the frosty morning air. Ravens or everywhere, cawing on the bodies of the fallen for control here.
Have had to pull back after retrieving our dead. We are dug in around the bin of the Keep. I have patrols out on all the flanks, and a perimeter up, but with all the troops we have, I still feel like a sitting duck. The Dragon Attack was devastating, in all 68 troops, and our knawling fear of the return of the bloody beasts.
Received message from command at 4:30pm, we are to cease all forward movement. We are in danger of being infected with Goblin Plague. War Wizard arriving soon with antidote.
At 8:30pm they came, The Green first.
82’ feet long, with another 64 feet of tail. All the archers tried to fire off volleys but it was night, and she was silent. She then casts off Acid rain on the vale.
16 troops fall to the ground, having breathed in the Chorine gas.
15 minutes later, be are blasted by a Blue Dragon. We noticed the area becoming magnetized, and then 2 thunderous bolts of Lighting killing 4.

The Black Brood Posted by the DM
The Kapak can’t believe what it has seen this night. Flying ships come from the sky that land on the ground, and dozens of troops deploying around the West side of Solace. They camp on the banks of Crystalmir Lake, and number in the hundreds. Lord Ortaz will know of this. The Draconian gathers his unit, and moves out of the area. They were able to hear the name of the soldiers, “Wolverines.” Sangis knows of the Animal, but not why these warriors are called so.
The unit moves out, quickly and quietly, but do not notice the Rangers on their trail. The 243rd Ranger battalion circle and close in on the enemy targets.
The Rangers on the outer perimeter meet the Draconians, and volleys of Arrows enter the scales of the Kapaks. But not all the draconians were destroyed this day. The Leader, Sangis moved on all fours and accelerated past the hand to hand, only managing it get hit with arrows in the back.
This area of the Haven Road in dangerous. Gader’s Keep. The Litch of Darken Wood, who rumors say, he lived in the time of Kith-Khan after the Kinslayer Wars. He was a Human Wizard of the Dark Robes, who rather then dying, with born into undeath by dark magics and began service to Chemosh. And still he lives in undeath. Recently, he pulled to life legions of Undead from the earth, collected over past wars. He is supposed to be on our side.
---- In Twin Peaks Vale, at he end of West Haven Road, and North of Haven North Road.
Lord Ortaz looks out his window from his stronghold on Twin Peaks, at the gently falling snow. He walks from the window to don his robe. His draconian love-slave lies on the their bed, and moans in her dream. It is nearing Dawn, and the view is spectacular. He sips on a Magical potion of Elven blood, to reenergize after the vigorous spawning of last night’s spells. ---- DM Note: Amazingly enough is the fact that Draconians have not lost spell powers in the last two years. ---- Lord Ortaz is an Aurak Draconian, and a powerful one at that. He and his brood left Tyer in 26 S.C. and later sold their services to Beryllinthranox, the Green Peril, and the Overlord of Qualinesti. If he can prove himself in this position to Beryl, he will be insured to gain control of Elven lands in the South. Thus applying pressure on Solace, and overseeing the military operations in gateway and New Ports. Disastrous notes have made him sit up and take notice over the last three Weeks. The Loss of Gateway and the appearance of an unknown Army of vast proportions based in the Druid’s Lands.
The Dragons in service to Beryl have been probing their defenses and has found these warriors lacking in defensives capabilities. But yet other happenings such as key Goblins being assassinated, and the Goblin plague that had been unleashed.
Cashing in on Wolfgaard Keep has made Beryl vary happy indeed, but now it has to be held. At all costs.
The seven-foot dragonman walks out of his room, and walks to his war room. And views a Draconian drawn map, of Abanasinia. Known in the south, there is at least a Division of Enemy troops at the mouth of Gateway, facing still thousands of Goblins. Chances are not in our favor. We must have a back up plan in case the Dragons do not succeed. The one thing about the enemy air force, they denied the goblins theirs. The Legion of Steel in the North West of Solace has been the problem for months. We need support, and that is paramount. He calls in Major Rellik. The Sivak enters the room and looks to his Lord.
“Alert commander Kazak that his battlegroup will accompany our envoy to the Overlord. This is a important to our control of the Solace Theater.”
The Sivak nods his head in understanding. “They will have to have papers to get them thru Lord Darrat’s Knights in Haven.”
“They will be given papers before they leave. Perhaps I will ask Darret for use of a Dragon. That will ensure the envoy’s arrival. I will make all ready for their journey. See it to it Commander, there will be no one to stop us.”
When the Aurak is alone, he goes to his desk, and pens several Scrolls, when he is interrupted. “Chief Sangis, what is the meaning of coming in uninvited? I should kill you right where you stand, but I don’t wish to dirty my walls with your filth.”
“You should, but you won’t my Master. They are called Wolverines my Lord. They have deployed on the Western front of Solace. They mean to deny you control of Solace and Wolfgaard. I don’t know how long the goblins can last.”
Ortaz glares at the Kapak. “You’ll forgive me if I don’t try to contemplate the unthinkable. If we lose Wolfgaard, and Gateway, our heads will be on stakes for the deathcrows to feast on. Tell me everything.
Ortaz records all the relevant details including the Kapak’s meeting with the Litch, Gader.
He also pens a situation report to General Galzin of the 8th Goblin Horde in control of Wolfgaard.
After the Kapak has been released from duty, and after the Envoys has been sent off with Commander Kazak’s Battlegroup with all the Scrolls, except for what will be sent to Galzin.
The Aurak figures out his next plans for the Solace Theater.
View from the Darkside -Posted by DM Wolfgaard Keep
Galzin reads the letter twice, before contemplating his next move. Wolverines in Solace. And Wolverines at my font door, held back only by the crater from the black powder we set off before the attack. And Wolverines moving north from their base near Gateway. Galzin considers for a while of what his next actions must be.
He dons his heavy winter coat, then walks from the throne room, thru the keep, to the laboratory that the Bozak Draconian, known as Zark, has set up in medical quarters of the keep.
The General looks around at the goblin bodies scattered around the room, “Report Zark, what have you found out about this disease that is killing my men? ”
“Ah General Galzin, do not worry about these, they are uninfected specimens. I am having the bodies burned of those that have succumbed to the biological warfare inflicted upon us.”
“This was manufactured?”
“Most assuredly my General. These Wolverines are a crafty bunch to resort to such measures. The Solamnics would have never tried something such as this, nor would the elves. These Wolverines are quite thorough, it was lucky that it is winter, or we would all be dead.”
“You say you are having the bodies burned Doctor?”
“Why yes, and all of their equipment and personal effects, we don’t want to take any chances.”
“Can we use this germ tactic back against them? Say use catapults, and send them below our bead? They will have no way of burring the dead, the ground is frozen.”
“Alas, it would work, but I don’t think it will have the full effect we would like it to. I see no reason not to do it, it would be quite discerning to see bodies fly at them, for them to wonder whether they are infected or not. While we are at it, the Solamnic human bodies of the dead, we should send them as well.”
“I will get the crews on that, send word to your people to stop the burning.”
“Of course General, it will be done.”
Galzin then heads to the war room where his surviving staff is pouring over detailed maps of the Solace Vale and surrounding areas. The 2nd in command of the goblin hoard, General Hallk and Bozak military advisor Major Glock have given their full attention to the current situation. Others have joined in this task: The Hobgoblin Major Dalik, Goblins, Major Yareal, Captain Nass, and Captain Caul.
“I have received a letter from Lord Ortaz from Twin Peaks. They have confirmed the Wolverine presence in and around Solace.”
There are murmurings fro, around the table.
“Quiet! They did not get over the crater; they flew in air ships around the backside of the Solace Peaks. There are 300 to 400 troops stationed along the west road to Haven, they do not pose a direct threat to us as of yet. Lord Ortaz says he is having 2000 reinforcements move up from Haven to secure the west road, and stand ready to help us should the Wolverines attach from the south.”
“What of the Knights we know that went to Solace from here?” Asks Caul.
“They have joined with the Knights guarding the tomb in Solace. I was given a number of 1000 knights in all that is now in Solace. General Hallk, what are our final numbers here in Wolfgaard?”
“104,837 goblin-kin and draconian strong my general.” Hallk replies briskly, “We lost 10,039 in the fight and due to the plague.”
“We still outnumber the main Wolverine battle group by 50,000 troops General.” Glock adds, “And we have the benefit of dragon-support.”
“If Lord Beryl still supports us. She could pull the plug at any time, let us not put all of our faith in the dragons. I know what I speak nears the edge of blasphemy, but we are out here on the front lines staring down an impressive army, and sometimes the calls we make in field are because we see what the real situation is. This Graysword has eliminated my Airforce, taken my wizards, sicked a nasty bio-plague upon us, and they have airships and these Wolverines have highly competent planners. I would respect them a hell of a lot more if it wasn’t that they are coming to kill us!” Galzin allows. “Send out the hunter killer teams. Give each on a seashell and tell them to wait for the command to kill. Lord Ortaz believes we may be able to sue for peace.”
“You must be joking my General! Major Yareal says in disbelief, “These humans are coming, they have not fled from the dragon attacks, they do not fear.”
“I never joke about war or peace Yareal. You forget yourself! We have taken Wolfgaard, we have proved ourselves mighty to our enemies, but luck only carries a army so far. They could bypass us completely, and meet up with those of Solace, and move on to Haven and be at Beryl’s front door by spring. We must be smart about what our next move will be.”
“What is our next move General?” Hallk asks.
“We reinforce the door, and the walls, we send out our scouts, and we ready the oil. If they are to come, then we must be ready for their advance. We do everything exactly as we would to fight this battle, but we do not attack the humans until we get word from Lord Ortaz.”
Haven Road Outpost
“We must give a show of force, else they will not take us seriously. We must make them wonder if they could take us with our obvious superior numbers. They have no back up, they are without allies that can do much, and we must make them consider.”
“Ortaz, you know Galzin’s mission was take Gateway and Wolfgaard, and to apply pressure on Solace. So far, he has lost Gateway-.”
“A calculated withdrawal Lord Darret, Galzin could not hold Gateway, and take Wolfgaard. The appearance of the Wolverines made that choice a clear one. I do not hold that against him.”
“Well I do. He outnumbers them.”
“I am aware of that Lord, and I am also aware that Lord Beryl made it clear to take Wolfgaard. Galzin made Wolfgaard happen, and for that, he will be honored at this table.”
“But what you are suggesting is counter to Lord Beryl’s wishes. You will have made the sacrifices of the Horde, and the resupply all for not.”
“But you see, it was all for naught anyway. The resupply never made it. The Wolverines in the south cut them down, they had to redirect to Haven across the White Rage. It fattens your food stores anyway. Look, We have to reevaluate our plan to the Solace theatre, a plan that will protect our Lord Beryl’s interests and that of her armies in the north. I will send word to Lord Beryl of my intentions to sue for peace with the Wolverines, with her approval, I will then send word to the Graysword that we wish to parley with this General, and work to head off a conflict we are not ready for. My servant Kazak has already left to take the word to Lord Beryl of my plans, and you will continue to oversee the forward deployment of the troops to maintain control of Haven Road. We have an ally that will make sure that the Wolverines do not move on Haven.”
“I will do . . . You are quite commanding for a draconian.”
“And you are a Knight, who knows nothing of the baser instincts of the need of survival. You were put in charge of Haven, Darrat do you know why? Because you are timid and not worthy of the knowledge of the far-reaching plans of our Lord Beryl. I was placed in command of the Solace Vale theatre for the simple reason of knowing when to stick it out, how much to stick out, and how to burry it to the hilt. Deploy the troops, and wait for my signal. I leave you now Lord Darrat to go about your tasks.” With that, The Aurak Draconian Lord, raises from his chair, and leaves the outpost on the back of a Wyvern, to his lair on Twin Peaks.
Gannon Dirge arrives at the Keep of Gadar of the Black. He is awed by the sight of the hundreds of undead that have risen from the depths of the earth of ages past. The Undead stand still, even as Gannon lowers himself from his mount, and approaches the Keep. But when he reaches the steps, the undead come to “life” and turn toward him. He has suppressed thus far, but now, it grips his heart. He cries out as the hands grab hold of his body, ready to rip him in quarters.
“STOP! I command you to release this Dark Knight!” A black robed figure descends the stairs with an almost levitating grace. The undead follow the commands of their undead lord. “You have seeked me out Knight of the Skull, for what purpose. Quickly speak, for I have left my studies, and know this, if you bore me in the slightest, I will leave you to my friends.”
Deployment Orders -Posted by the DM
Lt. Gen. Redgar Rockglade boards the Spelljammer Aurora, where troops from the 374th Archery Brigade have boarded, and on the Jarna and Khunata, to ride to their deployment west of Solace. The ships rise in the night, and accelerate quickly, moving behind the Solace peaks, and to the deployment zone, were 2624 Wolverines from the 347th Archery, and the 382nd Heavy Infantry Brigade have set up basecamp.
Lt. Col. Barada, the C.O. of the 382nd is there to greet you. “General, it is good to see you. This is Captain Kaylin Silverleaf of the 347th.”
(DM Note: Nathaniel Barada is a human male Warrior of 15th Lvl. He is 6’, 180lbs. 32 years of Age, blue-green eyes and brown hair. He has well-trimmed beard, and hardened features. Kaylin Silverleaf is a Elf from one of Sigoon’s small land masses. She has a faint green coloration. She is one of a hundred elves that joined the Wolverines. Kaylin has blue eyes-the whole of the eye is blue, and a shaved head. She is wearing a green and brown poncho and pants, and light leather armor. These outfits, along with brown leather moccasins are worn by all of the Rangers and Archers of the Wolverines.)
“Sir, my report is that I have met with the town-fathers a few hours after I got here, two days ago. You will not be able to meet with them until tonight, there is a funeral for a resident of the town, apparently a revered one of which, several hundred people has come to this town, braving the cold weather. That will be occupying the attention of the city government, and the knighthood that is here as protectors.
My team is deployed here on the west side of Solace, and on the north side of the Haven Road all the way to the lake here. Sir, further west, on the south side of the road is a keep, where the Airborne has reported a mass of Undead, outside of a Fortress Keep. We are trying to get Intel on the story of this keep, but it does not appear friendly. The Road to Haven is covered near here, The Mountains of Twin Peaks. We estimate upwards of 100,000 goblin-kin and Dark Knight troops. Also we have had several sightings of Wyvern riders, but we have not been engaged with the enemy since our deployment, except for a couple of scout teams of creatures called Draconians, lizard-like men that the older troops of the Wolverine indigenous to Krynn have described as much more deadly then Lizard men. We have been advised that when these creatures are given their death blow, they have different ways of dying so that they try to take the opponent with them in death, by exploding, turning into acid, and magical lightning.
A Thomas Pell leads the Wolfgaard Knights, and Lord Warren is the lead Knight of Solace. Conner Welling is the speaker for the city fathers of Solace.”
Kaylin speaks up, “I have scout teams out patrolling the perimeters, and we have set up traps on our northern flanks to make sure we are not caught surprised by a northern attack. I also have three scout teams trying to get Intel on this fortress-keep.”
--- Special Forces teams travel south toward New Ports; it will take two days for them to reach their intended target area.
---
2nd Mobile Infantry is readied to take the town of New Ports when the word is given.
---
1st War wagon Regiment is deployed at the Wolverine Base camp in the south, and readied and tasked for anti-dragon activities.
---
Mistress Joan and Nebris Arbagon work on the antidotes for 1st Armored, it should take two days to complete, and deploy to the Unit.
---
3rd Armored Core is moving up to a position where they are a day’s travel from 1st Armored’s position.
---
General Granitehammer rides to the 1st Armored Division’s Forward H.Q. They have taken Gateway, and the supply teams and Dwarven engineers are fixing what they can. Lt. General Ellis is the C.O. of this Division, a graduate of Officers school in Marika, and Soreel native. He is 52 years old, human male, Warrior of 18th Level.
Later, you review the report of your assets, in theater.
Full Strength when arrived on Krynn. 116,500

-63 dead and wounded in the Battle to take Gateway
-18 accidents resulting in death over the yearlong deployment on Krynn
-6 pregnant females have been reported in the last 3 months

Added Total, Final tally after 50,000 troops from when the Spelljammers land and deploy:
163,403 Total Already included Officers. (DM Note: If this number seems small, I went by your suggestion to add up the regiments. You counted 18 Regiments, I only counted 11. It seemed weird in bypassing the Divisions and Brigades, but I went by what you told me to do. If this is wrong, then we can work it out via e-mail. I added 50,000 to the final Number to make up any mistakes I may have made. I also tried to add some elements of realism when a Army deploys for a long period of time, what with the pregnancies, and accidents, mostly of which I took from the Desert Shield Operation.) ---
Deep in the South Woods of Qualinost, Beryl reads the report from Ortaz. “These Humans are a threat. They move on my holdings in the North, and give the Abansinians hope. I do not like this idea of a treaty; they are strong enough to take all of Solace Vale. Tell General Chang to move his army to Haven, and prepare to war with these Wolverines. Infernus, I want the 3rd, 4th and 5th Wings to take flight, and lay waste to these Wolverines. I want them punished for getting in my way. Send this word back to Ortaz, tell him, to ready his airborne troops, they will be going into battle. Infernus, have Pitch report to Twin Peaks and pick up the Airborne troops, and proceed to the Wolverine’s forward lines. Also have that fool Darret send out The 4th Horde from Haven, The rest of the army there can hold the town. I don’t care what happens to the Horde just bleed the Wolverines.
A Short time later, 44 Chromatic Dragons rise from the Southern Forest, and takes flight north.

General Redgar -Posted by Don
"Outstanding work. Let's keep it up. Right now I am going to dispatch a letter to Granitehammer, and let him know of what is going on, especially that damn keep."
Redgar will send the following:
"Dugan,
Looks like we've hit a shit wall. Intel shows that there is Fortress Keep on the south side of the road on the Western outskirts of Solace. The keep is of no real accord, but what IS is the following:
1 - Confirmed sighting of large mass (numbers unknown at this time) undead troops 2 - Confirmed sightings of Wyvern riders 3 - Draconians. Veteran fighters that remember these creatures say that when they die, they generally enact some final attack, focused on taking their attackers out with them. Am going to emplace some tactics to take these creatures out with as few casualties as necessary. 4 - Confirmed sighting of 100000+ Goblin-Kin and Dark Knight troops.
Be advised that under the circumstances, I am going to pull in 3rd Infantry and get set up here for a new front to the campaign. It is my opinion that this keep is going to be a staging area for probing if not full offensive attacks, and I will need all the time I can get to fortify our position. I will join you back at HQ for a face-to-face briefing as soon as I can.
Redgar"
Redgar will go outside and call for Barada and Silverleaf. "Colonel Barada, I want this message delivered to General Granitehammer by one of your Airborne Personnel. It is urgent that he receives this A.S.A.P. Whoever you send can find him at 1st Armored's HQ. Now, I am letting you both know that I am pulling all of 3rd infantry here to Solace. I don't like what is happening here, and as far as I am concerned, that force out there that your people have found is staging for a strike. Now whether it is pre-emptive, probing, or is going to be an all out assault, I don't know yet, and am counting on the two of you to find out for me. We will fortify this position, and get ready to repel all attackers. Once that is done, then we will make plans to take the war to them. You have both done an excellent job so far, and I will note this in your personnel files. But it's not over yet. We still got a long ways to go, and it's all up hill till then. Once you get that message sent Barada, I want the two of you back with me in the HQ tent. I have a plan about those damn draconians." Redgar will call for another messenger. "Get your ass over to 3rd infantry HQ, and tell them to get here NOW. Tell them I said to consider this a rapid deployment, and I want ALL of 3rd here yesterday. GO!" Back at the base camp Redgar will meet with Barada and Silverlearf. "Now then, 3rd should be on its way shortly. We will meet with the town fathers and the forces here, and co-ordinate our forces toward the defense of Solace. As far as the draconians, we will use arrows and ballistae against them. Have war wizards do what they can against them, but unless absolutely necessary, there should be no infantry engagement of these enemies. Have the ballista’s' of the Warwagons take them out if at all possible. Do we have any numbers on how many of them there are? Also, I want to talk to one of the more seasoned veterans, and see what ideas they have, if any, on how to counteract this "Last line of defense" the draconians have."
Wolverine Situation Report -DM Post
DM Note: Just so I can keep all that is happening in order. Right now it is Dusk. It is the Night that the Red Dragon attacked the Barracks of 3rd Army. It is the same night that Joan told Dugan that she did not have time to inoculate 1st ACR, thus she and Nebriss is working to get the quantities needed. Before Granitehammer leaves for 1st Division, the meeting is called to an end, and General Hjortarian leaves to go up and do a patrol. It is now that Granitehammer leaves to 1st Div. and General Rockglade leaves to the Western Front. Next day is the Funeral for Tika Wayland Majere in Solace, so General Rockglade meets with the commanders of the Western Front forces late this night, and will have to wait to Dusk the next day to meet with the Town Fathers. After meeting with the commanders of the western front, Redgar decides some courses of action, and fires off his assessment of the situation to Granitehammer at Gateway. He then sends Rapid Deployment Orders via air scout to 3rd Infantry and Admiral Voltros of the Spelljammer fleet, to arrange for 3rd Infantry be deployed on the western front. This is all still the same night as the meeting between Granitehammer, Hjortarian, and Redgar at 3rd Army Basecamp at the southern foothills of the Solace Peaks.
General Hjortarian gets up in the air, and clears his mind. You see the spelljammers leaving to the northeast, to ferry troops to the northern front. This is getting big, in a small, confined little area. Not an ideal battleground, but when is it ever?
You run thru your mind of where who is?
DM Note: After piecing together all whole bunch of info from the boards, making sure I have accounted for everyone as best I can, this is what I came up with. Hope its right, if it isn’t, be sure to let me know. Thank you. I added a chart at the bottom of the deployments about troop strengths based off of the Army organizational chart. It will be close to what the Wolverine setup is, I think.
2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment under Col. Sonah is on Solace Road, a half-day from Wolfgaard Keep.
3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment under command of Col. Keeg is a day’s journey from 2nd Armored. Keeg’s orders are to back up 2nd Armored.
General Dougan is headed to 1st Division H.Q. at Gateway, with General Ellis. 1st Div. consists of: 1st Armored Division 112th Heavy Shock Cavalry 113th War wagon Brigade 114th Heavy Shock Cavalry 121st War wagon Brigade 122nd Heavy War wagon Brigade 123rd Heavy War wagon Brigade 124th War wagon Brigade 131st Elephant Cavalry 132nd Heavy Shock Cavalry 133rd Heavy Shock Cavalry 2nd Mobile Infantry Division 4th Mobile Infantry Regiment 241st Infantry Brigade 242nd Infantry Brigade 243rd Archery Brigade 244th Infantry Brigade 5th Mounted Archery Regiment 251st Dwarven Mounted Crossbows 252nd Elven Mounted Archers 253rd Elven Mounted Archers 254th Mounted Archers 6th Light Cavalry Regiment 261st Light Lancers 262nd Light Lancers 263rd Cavaliers 264th Elven Lancers With the 111th and 134th War wagon Brigades is Air-Defense against Dragon attacks.
General Redgar has taken command of the 374th Archery Brigade under Captain Kaylin Silverleaf and the 382nd Heavy Infantry Brigade under Lt. Col. Barada on the west side of Solace. The 243rd Ranger Brigade from 3rd Army, 5th Corps is also stationed up here. 3rd Infantry under Major Derlin might be deployed up there too. 3rd Infantry Div. consists of: 7th Infantry Regiment 371st Infantry Brigade 372nd Infantry Brigade 373rd Infantry Brigade 8th Heavy Infantry Regiment 381st Infantry Assault Brigade 384th Heavy Infantry Brigade 385th Heavy Artillery Brigade 9th Support Regiment 391st Medical Brigade 392nd Quartermaster Brigade 393rd Transportation Brigade 394th Supply Brigade
DM Note: 3rd Infantry is cut orders to be deployed on the western front of Solace. They begin boarding Spelljammers, and it will take several flights to get all into position. They get their orders the night at night on the day Redgar arrives at the western front to access the situation up there.
And so Maximus, you are left with: Elements of the 3rd Army Group V Corps (Lighting Core) 2nd Light Infantry Division 4th Ranger Regiment 241st Elven Ranger Brigade (Airborne) 242nd Ranger Brigade 244th Elven Ranger Brigade 5th Light Infantry Regiment 251st Light Infantry Brigade 252nd Archery Brigade 253rd Elven Infantry Brigade 254th Light Infantry Brigade 6th Mobile Infantry Regiment 261st Mobile Infantry Brigade 262nd Mounted Archery Brigade 264th Mobile Infantry Brigade and the 1st Air Force Brigade
Currently almost all of 3rd Army is still based at the current basecamp, in the southern foothills of the Solace Peaks.
Other DM Notes: From about.com.
Squad - 9 to 10 soldiers. Typically commanded by a sergeant or staff sergeant, a squad or section is the smallest element in the Army structure, and its size is dependent on its function. Platoon - 16 to 44 soldiers. A platoon is led by a lieutenant with an NCO as second in command, and consists of two to four squads or sections.
Company - 62 to 190 soldiers. Three to five platoons form a company, which is commanded by a captain with a first sergeant as the commander's principle NCO assistant. An artillery unit of equivalent size is called a battery, and a comparable armored or air cavalry unit is called a troop.
Battalion - 300 to 1,000 soldiers. Four to six companies make up a battalion, which is normally commanded by a lieutenant colonel with a command sergeant major as principle NCO assistant. A battalion is capable of independent operations of limited duration and scope. An armored or air cavalry unit of equivalent size is called a squadron.
Brigade - 3,000 to 5,000 solders. A brigade headquarters commands the tactical operation of two to five organic or attached combat battalions. Normally commanded by a colonel with a command sergeant major as senior NCO, brigades are employed on independent or semi-independent operations. Armored cavalry, ranger and Special Forces units these sizes are categorized as regiments or groups.
Division - 10,000 to 15,000 soldiers. Usually consisting of three brigade-sized elements and commanded by a major general, divisions are numbered and assigned missions based on their structures. The division performs major tactical operations for the corps and can conduct sustained battles and engagements.
Corps - 20,000 to 45,000 soldiers. Two to five divisions constitute a corps, which is typically commanded by a lieutenant general. As the deployable level of command required synchronizing and sustaining combat operations, the corps provides the framework for multi-national operations.
Army - 50,000 + soldiers. Typically commanded by a lieutenant general or higher, an army combines two or more corps. A theater army is the ranking Army component in a unified command, and it has operational and support responsibilities that are assigned by the theater commander in chief. The commander in chief and theater army commander may order formation of a field army to direct operations of assigned corps and divisions. An army group plans and directs campaigns in a theater, and is composed of two or more field armies under a designated commander.
There is no set size (number of troops) assigned to any specific element. The size of an element of command depends primarily upon the type of unit and mission. For example, an aviation company would have a different number of troops assigned than an infantry company because it has a different mission, different equipment, and therefore different requirements.
End of DM Notes section. -2nd Special Forces Brigade under the command Brigadier General Trotta stands ready at the Solace Peaks Basecamp. He sends 3rd Platoon down to the outskirts of New Ports, it will take them a day from getting their orders from General Redgar, before he deploys to the Western Front. They will be in position for surveillance mission by noon of the day of Tika’s funeral in Solace.
-At The Western Front-Still Night before Tika’s Funeral. General Redgar now sends out his Deployment orders to the 3rd Infantry, and the SIT Report to Granitehammer. Captain Kaylin Silverleaf of 374th Archery Brigade Lt. Col. Barada of 382nd Heavy Infantry Brigade and Sol. Sly Moore of 243rd Ranger Brigade from 3rd Army, 5th Corps all are at the command tent, with Lt. General Redgar, They are all listening to Command Sgt. Jendon of the 382nd, a native of Krynn, who moved with the ‘General’ to Soreel in 363 A.C. when General Zeva left Krynn for her homeworld. He fought with mercenaries in the years after the War of the Lance, in which they hunted Draconians for profit. He gives them the rundown of what he knows of the death strikes of the draconians when they are killed.
“Baaz are the smallest and most plentiful draconians. I believe they were created from the eggs of the brass dragons. They have mottled scales in various shades of bronze and dark green. Their eyes are blood red, and they have slightly stooped shoulders. Their fangs are somewhat shorter than other draconians. They have small wings, which Baaz often cover with cloaks or other clothes; the wings protrude from their shoulder bones. When a Baaz is reduced to death, it turns into a stone statue. The person who struck the deathblow must roll a successful Dexterity Check with a -3 penalty or his weapon is struck in the statue. The statue crumbles to dust in 1d4 rounds, freeing the weapon.
Kapaks are a race of venomous draconians known for their stealth. They were born from copper dragon eggs. These guys have wings to, but can’t fly. They glide, which can be just as bad when they are air dropped from dragons. They average six feet tall and have sleek torsos and long limbs. Their scales are dull copper color tinged with green; their eyes are orange of dark brown. Careful of these suckers because they can spit venom 10’ feet, it burns, and can blind ya. When they go, their body instantly dissolves into a ten-foot-wide pool of acid. All within the pool suffer 1d8 points of damage per round from the acid (no saving throw). The others I faced, I didn’t get to know very well. Kapaks and Baaz are the ones I think we will run into the most. There ones called Bozaks, or something like that, they are magic-using, more so than all the others except for the Auraks. I think when Bozaks die, their flesh shrivels up, and the creature explodes, and the effects are nasty. Lots of damage to those who are in the blast radius. Radius is probably 10’feet. I think Bozaks come from Brass dragons. Sivaks are dangerous because they can take the form of humanoids, and masquerade as a human or an elf for Takhisis knows how long. I don’t know what happens when they die I’m sorry to say sir. These guys come from silver eggs. Auraks are the most powerful because they were created from Gold dragon eggs. They are extremely dangerous due to their magic’s, and I heard these guys go nuts when they die. Multiple explosions, energy balls disintegrates whatever they touch, and fire reaches to the sky. A real bad scene. I heard from the Rangers in Merwellyn, that these overlords have developed new breeds of Draconians; I think they said they are called spawn. They have breath weapons of the chromatic dragons, and I hate to think what happens to them when they explode. Lets see, Fire, Toxic gas, Lighting. It won’t be good.” -Gateway, the night Granitehammer gets here. Dougan meets With General Ellis, your X.O. of 1st Div. He brings you up to speed on the taking of Gateway, and the clean up efforts. Cannot base all of 1st Div inside the Fortress, but can get half inside. He details the defenses that the keep has, fixed ballistas, and catapults. Troops are in good spirits, despite the cold. Granithammer’s Command Staff Col. Coleman Trenber-Granitehammer's J-3 (Chief Operations Planning Officer) Arimal Dwarf Male-NPC Major Romulus Tyrell-Granitehammer's J-2 (Chief Intelligence Officer) Human Male-NPC -At 11:00 pm, an air scout aback a giant hawk, lands at he 1st Div encampment. The rider slides off and bears a letter report General Rockglade- Dugan,
Looks like we've hit a shit wall.

At Basecamp, The scout then comes with the 3rd Infantry’s Deployment orders. Brigadier General Nan Secura gets the troops up, and send out the Forces to the Spelljammer landing field. 25 ships are detailed to the mission of getting 3rd Infantry to the Western Front; it will take all night, and tomorrow to get all of the forces into place.
DM Note: Jaxa Odan and Eloise Twoblades arrive at the Grub and Suds.
By noon the next day (Day of the Funeral) The following units have been deployed to the West of Solace. 384th Heavy Infantry Brigade 9th Support Regiment 391st Medical Brigade 392nd Quartermaster Brigade 393rd Transportation Brigade
DM Note: Talidaar and Lashia arrive back at Merwellyn Wood.
On a return flight to the front, the following units are on board the Spelljammers when they fail in midair: 8th Heavy Infantry Regiment 381st Infantry Assault Brigade
There are casualties and wounded. They are presently on the backside of the Solace Peaks. The ships are all wrecked, beyond repair at the current moment, the mages do cannot get them started again. This leaves 30 some spelljammer ships grounded, as the ones back at Basecamp, and outside the Port of Fangir, outside of Merwellyn Wood. Most of these ships are from orbit, and managed to get all the forces to the ground. There are still ships up in space, and they are considered dead in the water, their crews stranded.
General Hjortarian sends air scouts, to inform Generals Granitehammer, and Rockglade of the tragedies. Mistress Joan has been consulted, and she believes it is the same effect that is affecting all the magics of the world. She reports she is halfway done with the inoculations. She will be heading out late at night tonight, to the 2nd ARC’s location. It will take perhaps all night, and into the next morning to get to all the troops.
Hjortarian, your staff has assembled to follow your orders. Col. Elisabeta Srivastava-Hjortarian's X.O. Human Female Captain Mitul Parikh-Hjortarian's J-3, Human Male Captain Ismenia Castros-Hjortarian's J-2, Human Female
These Units of 3rd Infantry are still at Basecamp in the south 7th Infantry Regiment 371st Infantry Brigade 372nd Infantry Brigade 373rd Infantry Brigade 8th Heavy Infantry Regiment 381st Infantry Assault Brigade 385th Heavy Artillery Brigade
At Wolfgaard, Bodies of the diseased goblins and Solamnic Knights are catapulted at the 2nd ACR’s position. Afternoon, the bodies number in the hundreds.
DM Note: Talidaar and Lashia Fly to the Grub and Suds for the Funeral the next day at Pax Tharkus.
DM Note: This Night is when Beryl meets with the messenger from Lord Ortaz.
Plans From the Darkside -DM Posts
The Wyvern lands on the Wolfgaard battlement. Lord Ortaz slips from his mount, and walks past the guards, into the keep. Major Rellik, his X.O. also joined him for this meeting.
He is taken to the War room where General Galzin, his X.O General Halkk, Major Dallik, Major Glock, and Major Yareal are deep in planning.
The Officers stand and bow to the Lord of Theater.
“I notice you are piling bodies on our enemies out side the gates Galzin.”
“In my talks with Dr. Zark, he said the bodies were a biohazard, and needed to be done away with. They carry the plague that decimated my ranks. I thought it only fitting we give the Wolverines, what they have given us.”
“It also will work on their morale, a decent plan Galzin, I am impressed. The 8th Horde is being pulled from Haven, and going to secure the road to here. Wolverines have built up strength on the west side of Solace. They have cut off your supply lines. Their man thrust troops are moving up the North road, and will soon be in position to take this keep.” Ortaz says simply as a matter of fact. “They will be able to take the keep, there is nothing that can be done about that.”
Galzin is disheartened. This is not what he wanted to hear.
“I do not fault you Galzin, you have performed remarkably. We must now decide how we are going to lose this keep, Major Rellik, if you will please take over the briefing.

After meeting with the 1st Armored Division’s commander and staff and receiving all the information they could give him, Dougan retires to a tent for a combat nap. About 1 hour before midwatch, a messenger arrives with a personal report from Redgar. Stretching to his full 3'9" height and trying to shake the cobwebs out of his brain, Dougan takes the message and tells the rider to stand by for a reply. Rapidly reading over the message, the dwarf begins forming his response as he re-reads it, this time more slowly so as not to miss a thing. Walking to his desk, he begins to write: "Redgar, I understand your situation and will have limited reinforcement assigned your area soon. For the time being, your mission is to defend Solace. We'll worry about attacking Haven if necessary AFTER Wolfgaard is secured. Be advised of possible dragon activity your vicinity. Wyvern riders are likely to be messengers and scouts, so if you can neutralize them it will degrade enemy CCC&L. Will speak with Hjortarian about tasking for that. Speak with the town fathers in Solace about possibility of recruiting any able-bodied men in town to assist your forces with engineering and control of possible fires. Begin fortification on west side soonest, entrench the whole town if you have to. Will be returning to HQ in morning. Dougan" After finishing his message to Redgar, he will write the following to General Hjortarian: "Maximus, 3INF reports regular traffic of Wyvern riders in Solace/Haven area. I believe these to be messengers and scouts. Request you report on possibility of neutralizing these assets to disrupt enemy communications and intelligence. Will be returning to HQ in morning, report there. Dougan" Handing off his messages, Dougan will leave his tent and take a walk around the perimeter, speaking personally with the men (and women and elves and dwarves) on guard duty, trying to get a feel for their morale and readiness. Once he is satisfied with the "night shift", the general will return to his tent and try to get another hour or two of sleep. Good thing I got those two weeks of leave in before we got deployed... he thinks to himself as he drifts off.
Situation Reports -DM Posts
It is 3 in the Afternoon of the day after Tika’s Funeral in Solace. 3rd Platoon covers the area outside New Ports. First Squad is in Town, getting Intel, with 2nd 3rd squad covering them. 4th and 5th squad is blanket security for the whole op. Lt. Garindan receives 3rd Intel report on area, scans it, then writes a field assessment of the situation in New Ports. He calls over a scout, and has him run the scroll to 2nd Mobile.
2nd Mobile Division is 6 miles north of 2nd Special Forces, 3rd Platoon’s position. Major General Lumos Etima from the farmlands of Marika is in planning session to take New Ports with X.O. Col. Derlin of 1st Brigade, the other Brigade commanders and command Sgts.
Etima receives the SitReport, reads it over, has his scribe team copy the document, then he signals the attached Air Scout to take the Report up the chain, take it to 2nd Special Forces Command, for Granitehammer’s Eyes.
The Air Scout and his mount flies up to Main Base Camp, presently under Command of General Hjortarian. The Scout goes to General Trotta, who then directs the Air Scout to take him and the package to Gateway.
It is the Afternoon of the Next Day, General Granitehammer. General Ellis, CO of 1st Div. reports the Troops are armored up, (in case there is combat today. It is lightly snowing, not really any accumulation then the 4 inches the previous night.
2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment under Col. Sonah is on Solace Road, a half-day from Wolfgaard Keep. She Writes: Goblin are catapulting dead goblins and Knights at our position. We have pulled back and are now joined with Col. Kleeg and 3rd Armored. We are pulling together, and ready for the word to march. We know we are potentially infected, so we are a ways from 3rd Armored, and have just sent curriers to halfway points, and exchanging letters.
Intel Reports today say that the rest of 3rd Infantry is enroute to the backside of Solace Peaks, and to the debris field of Spelljammers, and fallen units, should be there by Nightfall. Redger has all of units North in shape. He has met with Town Fathers and Knight Commanders from Solace Garrison, and Wolfgaard Forces, they have committed 22,460 to the defense of Solace.
Collectively, 24 Airforce mounts and riders were taken out by unknown means over the last 3 nights. General Hjortarian believes they are Dragons on the prowl, and that is leading to a degergation in the air superiority we had when the Knights had the Keep. General Hjortarian has been deploying his troops all day, and has received your request, and will comply on the Wyverns. He will be in to report directly to you at 5.
You receive General Trotta, and hear out his report. : 3rd Platoon/2nd Special Forces is covering New Ports. 1st Squad Reports estimated 200 Dark Knights in New Ports. They are not supplied, and are disgruntled. The Minotaur took all the ships, and departed already. They are paranoid, but relaxed in their security methods. There are a couple of captains, but otherwise Sgts. and grunts.
Lt. Garindan is in charge of 3rd Platoon, and he has the timing of certain shits that seem to be repeated. There is nominal civilian activity in the Port, all either left on their own volition, or potentially taken as slaves by the minotaurs.
Major General Etima of 2nd Mobile Division is 6 miles north of Port. He has read the SitReport, and he says he can surround the town, and secure New Ports on your word.
In other news, Lady Joan sends a message she is traveling with the Druid to 3rd ACR to give the inoculations to 2nd ACR. She will be there tonight.

Elsewhere, at the Northern Front, Lt. General Redger Rockglade is meeting with commanders from the: 3rd Infantry under Major General Derlin 384th Heavy Infantry Brigade 9th Support Regiment 391st Medical Brigade 392nd Quartermaster Brigade 393rd Transportation Brigade joins the: 374th Archery Brigade under Col. Kaylin Silverleaf 382nd Heavy Infantry Brigade under Lt. Col. Barada The 243rd Ranger Brigade from 3rd Army, 5th Corps under Col. Kree Orren
You are given a Battlefield commission of the Rank of Major General, and thus command over 3rd Infantry. Major General Derlin will serve directly under you; his staff will support your command.
You get a J-2, J-3, and a Intel Staff.
IN your talks with the Town Fathers of Solace, and the Solamnic Generals, there are 22,460 committed to the defense of Solace. The Town Fathers frown upon forces being sent out to retake Wolfgaard at this time. The Knights concur, only because they are concerned with an attack from Haven, before the Pass becomes impassible after Yule. That’s in 20 days. Food is getting scarce the Town Fathers report.
Word on: 8th Heavy Infantry Regiment and 381st Infantry Assault Brigade are presently on the backside of the Solace peaks with the Crash victims. They have requested orders.
These Units of 3rd Infantry are still at Basecamp in the south, In Western Que-Shu lands. 7th Infantry Regiment 371st Infantry Brigade 372nd Infantry Brigade 373rd Infantry Brigade 8th Heavy Infantry Regiment 381st Infantry Assault Brigade 385th Heavy Artillery Brigade
It does not make you happy that all these Infantry Brigades, and Regiments are stranded away from here. It will take a week to get all those troops up here.
374th Archery Brigade under Col. Kaylin Silverleaf reports that several Platoons on the northern flank have been quite savagely attacked by invisible creatures. The men have died in strange ways, some with no marks, over with terrible slashes, also by blunt attacks.
--- At Basecamp Marika, Major General Hjortarian has directed his Airforce on several sorties, one being 2nd Troop taking flight and executing any Wyvern traffic.

Sir Gerald Uth Mondar Posted by the DM
Sir Gerald Uth Mondar walks from his Barracks to The Inn of the Last Home, as he usually does every Morning for breakfast and a little socializing before he takes his post. His one friend in Solace is Caramon Majere, and he’s over Eighty years old, and he is a good and honorable man. Otherwise, Gerald’s life is one he would just soon like to forget about. His fellow Knights are no comfort to him, he is not the best looking of fellows, pockmarks, slightly larger nose, and hay-like consistency hair, but his eyes are the purest blue. He has worked out in his time, and is good in practice, but he has yet to fight in Battle, something he is going to rectify right now.
His Father, Lord Mondar is not a Knight per say, but his father many of his grandfathers were, and Lord Mondar is apart of the Rose Political Party, in Solamnic Politics. He is also wealthy beyond all wants. The Uth Mondar Keep is in Northern Erogth’s capital, where control of the Knighthood has moved from the Solamnic mainland to Ergoth. Sancrist Isle is still home to the Grand Master of the good Knights, but Political power resides ironically in Ergoth.
The Other Knights believe Gerald’s Father bought him this phat cushy, meanwhile every true Knight longed to fight in Sanction, but these backwoods stix like Solace and Wolfgaard. But the Green Peril’s Advance has certainly made this posting more exciting, looking down Hoards of the Overlord, but hey have turned out to be lowly Goblins. This whole situation is like a pox on Honor. There is no Honor in fighting Goblins; all they have is numbers, not the fighting ability. Gerald doesn’t buy into all of that. Not to mention all of these strange warriors that has moved in. Some of the older guard remembers hearing of the Wolverines in the Time of Rage, but they were thought to have died out in the 5th Age. And yet here they are, Divisions of troops, and yet, He has not seen them all because he is here, in Solace, guarding honored dead people. Caramon is not up yet, forgot about that. Mrs. Majere dying has thrown the whole town in a rut. Laura is upset about him, and Dezra is off as usual. Night, and day those two.
Laura comes over to bring Gerald his breakfast, the same one he has had since he began frequenting the Last Home. Caramon has told him all the stories, even Legends, which Gerald had a hard time chewing on. But it made him long for such adventures. And another good thing about Sir Majere is he has never even said a thing about Gerald’s looks. Which was very welcome considering what he gotten his whole life. Laura knew Gerald had eyes for her, but wished he didn’t. She is always nice to him, but never overly so.
Laura says “Father is still not eating, but we are trying, We thank you for your concern Sir Mondar.”
“I wanted to tell him I’m going to the front, and hopefully will get to something about Beryllinthranox troops.”
“I am sure My father would be proud Sir Mondar, I will tell him when he wakes up.” She smiles, then walks to another table.”
She didn’t say be careful. Oh well.
At 10:00am Gerald walks into the Garrison, and tells Lord Warren’s aide he is here. Lord Warren sees the younger Knight in, “Ah, Sir Gerald, what can we do for you today?”
“Lord, we had spoke last night about me being assigned to the Wolfgaard Infantry today, I was wondering what become of that?”
“I am sorry Sir Gerald, I tried to get thru to you last night, that your father would have never agreed to your posting in Solace to begin with, I should have sent you back last Month to Ergoth. I have a half a mind to but you in the brig in any case.”
“You wouldn’t My Lord, I went thru the legal measures of getting assigned here to this base, and I dare any man to call into question my honor in this matter.”
“Your father is not happy Sir Gerald, You will stick it out this winter, then you will be on the first transport to somewhere on Ergoth. That defiantly means you will not be taking part in any offensive action. Now, you have a shift sometime today, I will be around at that time to making sure you are on it. Good day Sir Mondar.”
Mondar salutes honorably, then spins on his heel, and leaves the Garrison.
Lord Warren hated that. The poor man, to have a father like that. Somehow Mondar had gotten a General to post him in Sanction, but that was rescinded once he got here. Now Warren has had to keep Mondar from the fight. Why the hell do I put up with any of this? Because Lord Mondar is Warren’s old friend, and Gerald’s guardian angel.
Orders from Command -Adam Posts
To: COM2MOBINF From: COMAEF Re: New Ports
Send in an unarmed officer carrying a truce flag with orders to meet with the Dark Knight's Garrison Commander. Tell them we have 1,000 troops surrounding the town, and order the enemy garrison to surrender unconditionally. Further inform garrison that their lives will be spared upon cooperation. If they do not surrender, destroy all enemy forces encountered in the town with any and all necessary force. Minimize civilian casualties. Upon seizure of town, commence fortification operations and be prepared to hold town through winter. Be advised enemy dragon activity increasing throughout theater. To: COM3INF From: COMAEF Re: Volunteers Effective immediately, begin training camps for Solace Volunteers. Disregard drill procedures, teach basic infantry skills only. Single out those with combat experience and leadership ability to command volunteer companies. Upon certification of combat readiness, form volunteers into companies and reinforce your regular units at ratio of one volunteer company per regular battalion. Surplus volunteer companies to be assigned combat support roles per your need. Seizure of New Ports commencing soon. Expect town to be in AEF control by dark tomorrow at latest. Effective immediately, group renamed Northern Command.
General Rockglade of Northern Command Don Posts
Redgar will stand looking at his commanders. When he hears the reports of the rest of 3rd INF and what Col. Silverleaf says is happening, he looks down at the map table, cupping his bearded chin in his hand, and shakes his head. "This is not looking too good right now people. Our main concern is keeping this town secured. Everything after that is support for the main objective. So here is what we are going to do..... Colonel Barada, you are to set up a training center in town. Start giving the volunteers training in basic combat techniques. No drills, no rank recognition, just the basics. Make them striped down, no frills Wolverine soldiers. They only need to know how to fight our way. While you're training them, weed out the ones that have leadership skills. THOSE you give a basic Leadership Development Course induction too, and assign them as commanders of the units. After that is done, break them all up into units, we'll call them Solace Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, and so on. Attach these units to your units that are staged in defensive positions around the town. I am going to tell the town fathers that the volunteers are going to be used for town defense only, and that is EXACTLY what I am going to do. Any extra units that you have of the Solace units, station them at extra points in along the perimeter. This is the set-up people. Pay attention... 1. -In the town, we have the 382nd, with the Solace attachments. They are in charge of town defenses. This will be known as ground zero.
2. - In a circular perimeter about 700 yards outside the town, is the 384th, holding positions along with 374th. You will all be our first line. This will be our front line. Colonel Silverleaf, I want you to send a platoon of your archers with a company from the 384th to the area that your people said they were attacked. Find out anything they can, and report back. They are to be back here A.S.A.P.
3. - 243rd, you will be stationed in town. You will be tasked with recon sweeps in growing circles around the town, starting about 75 yards outide of the front line. Colonel Orren, I want you to send two companies out to 8th Heavy and 341st INF and tell them that they are to proceed here immediatly. You will be escorting a company from 391st so that they can take care of wounded. One company will escort them back to 3rds basecamp, pick up any straggler units not on their way here, and return. The other company will make a B-line to New Ports, and let them know we need supplies here yesterday. Under no circumstances will they make contact with enemy forces unless absolutely necessary.
4. - All other units, (9th, 391st, 392nd, 393rd, and 3rd under Derlins command) will remain with the city, to be ready for rapid deployment where we need them along the front lines.
All units are to be on full Combat Alert until further notice. We are going to have to find a supply line somewhere near until General Granitehammer can work his way through to us. I want intelligence on this NOW. Derlin, talk to the town fathers, and see if there are any small towns, or riverports, or anything we can use to get a supply line going. Besides the defense of Solace, we are going to have to make supplies a priority. If we start running out of food, then the first thing we are going to lose is our volunteers. We are in a state of defense people, until further notice. Our objective is to hold this town. Now that being said, if an opportunity should present itself that we might take out a few of those shitbags on the otherside, without causing our own position to be jeapordized, then consider this the authorization to do it. I am counting on all of you to pick up the ball here. We are in a tough spot, and with enemy forces at unknown strengths, we are going to hole up here like a badger in its den, until the rest of 3rd gets here. Then maybe we'll start looking at taking the war to THEIR frontdoor, like we've been trained to do. Let's get to work.
Once everyone is gone, Redgar will dispatch a memo to General Granitehammer:
"Dugan, We've hit a snag. Col. Silverleaf has reported that her people came in contact with "invisible enemy" that pretty well fucked up her people. Am having Intel work on it, and am sending bulked up unit into area to scout around. Need any intell on what contact might be. Only thing to go on, is that she said her casualties "some scratched, some with no marks, and some with blunt trama." General warning on new contact may be needed issued to other front line troops. Working on finding open supply lines while we wait for New Ports to be taken. Having company from 243rd Ranger meet with your units at New Ports to get supplies from there. Currently fortifying position at Solace until 3rd can get up to full strength. Then, UNODIR(UNless Otherwise DIRected), will see about how we can make ourselves a thorn in the side of our adversaries out there. Redgar"
Redgar will then assign his J-3 the task of finding out what attacked the Northern Flank. "I want to know what the hell is creeping around out there, NOW!!!!"

Wolverine Campaign 37s.c. It is now the 2nd Day of Deployments for Northern Command. Tonight is The Funeral of Porthios and Mytarius.
Major General Etima reads the dispatch from General Granitehammer.
Etima then calls his X.O. Lt. General Lazaretto to come into his tent along with Major Kauth and Lt. Col Nunis of 3rd Battalion. The Officers discusses the situation, Then Col. Nunis receives his orders to deploy around the Port, and ready fro battle. Major Kauth is sent 3 hours later to New Ports, to call on the Dark Knights to give up when 3rd Battalion is in position. General Lazaretto is told to get the Division up, and ready to take the town.
Central Command at Gateway- 4 Hours later, Granitehammer receives the status report Major General Etima from Southern Command.
To: COMAEF From: COM2MOBINF Re: New Ports
We have taken town of New Ports, have 500 Dark Knight prisoners, some where not ready to give up, I lost 14 soldiers in the Invasion.
Port is now under Wolverine Control; we have a load of Supplies that was just dropped here a month ago. Permission to have surviving seagoing Spelljammers report here, I was thinking we can maybe get some trade going with Solamnia, they seem to be the only game in town. There are two ports I am interested in, Port o’ Call on mainland Solamnia, and a Port in northern Abanasinia called the Crossing. Will hold New Ports at all cost. Am sending out LRRP’s to patrol the perimeter. Should we advertise that we are in control of the base, or keep things quiet, until we get a Dragon rider, or some of his friends come here to check on things?
-Tangis
General Ellis of 1st Division has finished meeting with his officers, and is currently having a drink after many hours of intense battle planning, and preparation.
Northern Command-
Captain Barada is at work with the volunteers from Solace. He has put to work his best Battle Sgt.’s on the job of whipping the recruits into shape. Leadership classes begin in the morning.
The 382nd has Solace secured at Ground Zero
The 384th and the 374th have secured the Frontlines.
5th Platoon has engaged hostiles in the northlands.
Two Companies (Echo and Foxtrot) from the 243rd are on the move to get to the downed Spelljammers, and ground troop. It will take another day and a half to get there.
Col. Orren and the 243rd have secured Solace, but no troops are to enter the town itself. The Town is already strained from the overabundance of Refugees, and the Solamnic Knights from Wolfgaard. Patrols are being sent out.
General Derlin talks with the City Fathers and reports back to you. “You are not going to like this a bit. Yule is in twenty days; Yule is a celebration where it’s the last time people between towns can see each other until the spring thaw. The Solace Vale gets a ton of snow. Gateway to Solace to Haven gets dumped on. We will be on our own once the Snow comes in. There are towns nearby in the North, but they can’t support an army. Solace is going to barley be able to support itself. We are good for a month with the supplies that was brought in with the 394th Supply Brigade.
3 in the afternoon- Col. Silverleaf and your J-3 (Major Haring) Report to you, “Undead. That’s what our forces have been engaging in the north, Undead. They were cloaked from our sight. We got the ones that were in our A.O., but C.O. of 5th Platoon believes there are more out there. He said that on his deathbed.
Central Command-
Lady Joan and Nebriss Arbagon are riding to 2ACR
Basecamp Marika-
Maximus, your X.O. Col. Elisabeta Srivastava reports they have downed a Wyvern and rider in the Northern theatre, but the rider got away.
Hjortarian Posted by Dave
General Maximus Hjortarian stood looking down at the battle map of Abansinia. "22,700 at Wolfgaard; Moderate level threat. Considering the Goblin plague, and the divisions already on the front line;" His eyes move across and down the map. "15,000 at Haven; but they have Qualinesti at their back, which means easy reinforcement. On the other hand, we have Darken Wood between us, so we're not in imminent danger from them; And then, there is New Ports;"
His eyes leave the map, and the Dragon General begins to pace. After a few moments, he stops and looks at the officers gathered by the tent entrance. "Sriva," he calls to his X.O.
The young female officer walks over, and stands at attention. "Sir."
"I want the 251st, 241st, 242nd, and 264th to mobilize. I want them ready to move as soon as possible. We are heading South, Sriva, we're going to set up a perimeter cordon."
The officer nods. "Yes, Sir."
"Dismissed," the General replies. The X.O. leaves, calling for runners.

General Redgar, NORCOM Posted by Don
Redgar will call a meeting of his staff. "Alright people, some good news finally. General Granitehammer has sent word that New Ports has been taken. Command is looking into our supply situation, and there are some things we can do on our end. Major Haring, I have four jobs for INTELL. One, have the town of Crossings scouted out for possible landing areas, and work me up the logistics on getting the supplies from there to here in the quickest way possible. Also, get with Supply and find some storage for the supplies we'll have coming in. Two - Get a SITREP(SITuation REPort) from Solamnic Command about Schallsea Port and Port O' Call. I wanna know enemy activities nearby, if it is secure, and if not, what it'll take to make it secure, what size ships it can dock, and how many it can dock and load/unload at any given time. Also find out what kind of merchant traffic it deals with on a daily basis. Three - I want to know the best way do deal with these "undead" ghoolies. I want my people do be able to deal with them the safest and best way they can. I don't want to lose anyone else. Four - Get me local weather information. How much does it snow, average temperature variations, how many blizzards do they get yearly on average, and so on. I want us here in HQ to be prepared so we can get a jump on outfitting our people for the upcoming changes.
Col. Silverleaf, I would assume you have replaced the C.O. of 5th. I am sorry to hear of more casualties. So for now, we are to hold our positions on the line, and only S.F. recons teams are to go out. They have standing orders not to engage, and to break off and return to base if they encounter any enemy activities. I want your people, especially those in 5th platoon, to suppress any desires for revenge right now. That time will come, but NOT today. We are going to hold back until a few more tiles fall into place. Once we get full strength, a working supply line, and a little better idea how to fight these undead baddies, then I promise you I'll turn you all lose to wreak some havoc and hell on them, but for now I will NOT let you all go out to fight something unknown and give the enemy a better chance to surprise you all and kill you. Understand? GOOD. Now go reign in your troops, and let them know payback is on the way, just be patient." Redgar will dismiss all but Derlin. "Derlin, I want you to get our forces in fortified positions built for a long, long stay. It is time to entrench ourselves, and put the finishing touches on our little brick wall here. We aren't going to make any moves toward the enemy until we get up to full strength. If we are attacked, standing order is to repel all borders, and hold position. Have a platoon or two from Special Ops start laying some booby traps around the outer lines, say 50 to 75 yards out in front of the front line. Report back to me when they have the job finished. Dismissed"
Redgar will sit down at his table, draw a rough map of Solace with the following markers shown on it: Front Line Ground Zero Enemy Contacts Confirmed Enemy Movements Location of Enemy Keep to the West
He will then attach it to the following Dispatch:

Dougan sits in his command tent, studying the maps of the area for what must be the ten millionth time. This time his eyes rove over a map of the entire region, from the town called Tarsis all the way north to the south shore of the Solamnic mainland, all this the green Beryl's territory. Dougan gives a snort at that. Her territory....she's doing a lousy job controlling the north of it so far... The thought gives him pause. Elves in the forest to his south, with mountains south of that before the Plains of Dust. No elf I know would just sit still while an enemy invaded their precious forests....there has to be something going on down there. And where there are mountains, there are dwarves. No proper dwarf would take all this shit from some enormous, bloated lizard. Sticking his head out of the tent, he says to the messenger/guard, "Orders group, 10 minutes. Colonel Cordovillo especially. And see if you can find out where Colonel Arbagon from the Sunhawks has gone. I'd like to speak with her." Retuning the soldier's salute, Dougan returns to the tent, finalizing the plan in his head before presenting it to his staff.

At NORCOMM, General Redgar receives the local weather report from Intel staff. 6-10 Blizzards a year, moist air from the straits of Schallsea mixes with the bitter cold air from the mountains to create massive snowfalls. 7 tenths of precipitation added to the mix. Pass between Solace and Haven completely closes the road between the two towns. 44 to 30 degrees average temp. The effects from Southern Ergoth, which by the way, a White Dragon Overlord rules, has changed the lands of his island, which affects the snowfall here, making it worse.
Maj. General Redger receives the analysis report on the undead in theatre. “Sir, the enemy is a mixture of corporal and incorporeal beings. Zombies, Ghasts, Skeletons, and Wraiths. We have no ability to combat the wraiths Sir, not without our War Wizard’s knowledge on the subject. We have none in our force. As for the Corporal undead, Fire will affect the Zombies and Ghasts, and I’m sure only blunt weapons will have any effect on the skeletons.”

Redgar will call his staff together and inform them of the latest info. "Alright, now I want our people to be outfitted for the upcoming weather. And tell our front line troops how to deal with the ghoolies. I'm going to get in touch with General Granitehammer, and we'll see what we can do about the wraiths. Derlin, I want you to get with Special Forces, and create a small unit from some of their best people, and train them for specialized fighting against these baddies. Once his staff is assembled, he will begin his brief without waiting for the Sunhawk's chief to arrive. "Boys, we have some problems in this theater. The geography sucks, the weather sucks, and the enemy sucks. We have encountered every difficulty an Army can expect to encounter, and some that you really can't expect, and so far we are still on top of things. This is the preeminent fighting force in the known spheres, but sometimes even the best needs a little assistance from people who know the area better. And so I propose this: To contact the elves of Qualinesti and the dwarves of Thorbardin to request technical assistance with this operation. They know the terrain, and they know the enemy's weaknesses. I had hoped that Colonel Arbagon from the Sunhawks would be able to join us for this briefing, but so far we have been unable to locate her. I'm planning on speaking with one of her deputies soon. I am going to ask the Sunhawks for their help in getting us in contact with the leaders of the elves and dwarves to find out what kind of assistance we can get from them. Colonel Cordovillo, I know this isn't your normal area of expertise, but I want you to meet with the native leaders and explain our official position: that we are here to defeat the Dark Knights and their allies, that we are liberators, not conquerors, and that we would expect that they would assist us in their own liberation. If they want to speak with someone higher up the chain of command, they can come here. I'm busy running a war here, and can't really leave my post. You are to stand by for further orders until I can speak with the Sunhawks. Is everyone in agreement?" Dougan looks around at the faces of his staff. Whether they truly agree with him or not, they aren't saying. They each nod as he meets their eyes, and he finishes the brief just as a messenger from NORCOM arrives. Dismissing the staff, he reads the message and composes a response.

Try to minimize contact with the locals; there are some pretty superstitious folks around here and we don't want to create an incident with our hosts. Understood?" Getting the man's nod of assent, Dougan dismisses the mage. "Messenger!" he calls for the page. "Find out where that Arbagon fellow who went with Joan is now. Redgar sits in his command tent looking over maps and troop positions, making sure that he has completely covered all that he can. When his aid tells him a dispatch from COMAEF has arrived, he walks outside to read it. Once done he tells calls his aid over, and tells him to find Derlin and have him report immediatly. Walking back to his table, he continues to look over his maps until Derlin arrives. "Good news, HQ is sending us some war wizards to help deal with the threat of the ghoolies. Bad news, and keep this one under your hat, for some reason the effectiveness of our twittlefingers is down to 50%. Why I don't know, but as soon as they arrive, escort them here, and you and I will find out. In the mean time, I want you to do a walk-through of our troop positions, and make sure everything is taken care of. I intend to do the same here in a bit. We need to make sure this area is as tight as an elf's ass in the middle of a goblin den. Remember the seven P's my friend. Proper Previous Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance. Besides, it's good for morale if the troops see that the brass isn't scared to get out in the field along with them, eh? Dismissed" Redgar will look over his maps once again, then grab his axe, put on his helm, and start out to visit his men, heading for a walk-through of "ground zero" first, and then for a once over of the front lines. He will take one aid with him, in case he needs to send a message, and leave one aid at the command tent, in case someone needs to get a message to him.
End of this Chapter of the Wolverine Campaign.
