From the Lost Histories
date unknown: The last five metallic female dragons, including gold Aurora and silver Argyn, lay their final clutch of eggs.
date unknown: Aurora, the last of the dragon matriarchs, fights red Furyion, son of the Queen of Darkness. She kills him, but is fatally wounded. With her death, the age of magic comes to an end.
circa 8500 PC: The eggs of Takhisis, the five-headed Queen of Darkness, are hatched within Darklady Mountain, where the Queen has been exiled from Krynn.
circa 8000 PC: The only eggs of the last metallic matriarchs hatch in a grotto deep within the High Kharolis mountain range.
circa 5000 PC: Crematia, the red daughter of Furyion, is appointed leader of the other chromatic dragons, having first killed all the other reds. She leaves Darklady Mountain, the first chromatic to do so since their queen's exile, and forces the ogres to acknowledge her as their leader.
sometime between 5000 & 3553 PC: Of the new metallic dragons, gold Aurican befriends the elves and learns to shape-shift, spending most of his time as an elf. Silver Darlantan forges an imortal alliance between the silver dragons and the Kagonesti, the wild elves. Bronze Burll finds his own lair, many miles away, and gradually becomes reclusive. Copper Blayze becomes aggressive and nasty, finally being driven away from the higher ranges and the grotto. Brass Smelt learns many languages and becomes a friend to humans. These traits later become distinguishing characteristics of each colour's descendants. The female dragons mainly stay in the grotto.
3553 PC: Silver Kenta and Darlantan mate.
3552 PC: The metallic females of all colours lay their eggs in the grotto.
3493 PC: Crematia lays her eggs, father unknown.
sometime between 3493 & 3489 PC: The army of ogres and chromatic dragons wipes out the city of Aurican’s elves, leaving few survivors.
3489 PC: The metallic males battle Crematia and her dragons, to avenge the elves. The chromatics are armed with magic, and Burll, Smelt and Blayze are killed. Aurican goes on a journey to find magic, while Darlantan stays to continue avenging the elves.
3488 - 3480 PC: Darlantan, the elves and the Kagonesti kill many ogres in ambushes and short fights.
3480 PC: Aurican returns, bringing magical dragongems in red, blue, green, black and white. War is declared by the elves, wild elves and humans, versus the ogres.
sometime between 3480 & 3357 PC: Aurican and Darlantan trap the souls of all the green, black, white and blue dragons in the first four dragongems, but Darlantan is killed by the blues. Crematia is badly wounded and disappears, and without dragons on the ogre’s side, the first war is won. The metallic eggs hatch.
circa 3000 PC: Crematia’s red eggs hatch, including Deathfyre, the largest. She re-emerges and tries to force the dwarves to dig out the dragongems, but the dwarves have power over her, because without them she can’t get to the stones. They force her to leave with just one gem, and stay away for one hundred years between each gem.
3000 - 2698 PC: Crematia and Deathfyre gather ogres, minotaurs and the bakali, or lizard men, for their army. Twice Crematia returns to the dwarves, collecting more gems.
2698 PC: Crematia receives the last dragongem and Deathfyre destroys all the dwarves’ crops. The chromatic dragons are released.
2693 PC: The elves are attacked by the chromatic dragons and their army, and come to the metallics for help. Aurican, the only metallic of the first generation left, flies to Silvanesti, the elven city. At his command, the next generation of metallic dragons gather in the grotto. Bronze Tharn is tricked into leading Deathfyre to their hiding place. Crematia is killed by Aurican, who learns of Deathfyre’s trick. He warns the young dragons, but dies defending their escape. Only ten young metallics survive, thanks to the sacrifices of their peers, a male and a female of each colour. They agree to separate and hide in colour pairs untill they have matured.
2688 PC: The elves finally work a dangerous magic which traps all the chromatic dragons under the ground, although Deathfyre almost escapes.
sometime between 2688 & 1400 PC: The metallic dragons, still seperate although no longer hiding, lay and hatch their eggs. The new generation of metallics eventually discover each other, but continue to live seperately. The trapped chromatic dragons all die, apart from Deathfyre, who was further away and did not get affected as badly.
circa 1300 PC: Deathfyre escapes. He uses shapeshifting magic to persuade the dwarves to mine for chromatic eggs for him. He then sells them as pretty baubles, spreading them all over the wrold.
1191 PC: The chromatic eggs hatch, releasing evil hatchlings throughout Krynn. They live in hiding, feeding on humans.
1056 PC: Deathfyre calls the chromatic dragons to him and raises an army of ogres and bakali, as well as corrupt humans and dwarves, to make war against the humans.
1029 PC: The third generation of metallics are now quite old and there have been many other clutches of dragons. When they hear of the new war, the metallic dragons agree to silver Heart’s idea of carrying lance-wielding human knights, but her mate Lectral refuses to join then when he learns that Heart is in love with a human knight, Huma. He flies to protect the wild elves instead.
1028-1027 PC: Lectral is wounded, almost fatally. The Dragonlances wreak havoc. Deathfyre is killed and red Tombfyre takes over the chromatics. Takhisis tries to escape her prison, but is fatally wounded by Huma, who allows her life in exchange for taking all the chromatic dragons out of Krynn. She does so, but secretly leaves Tombfyre behind, deep beneath the ground. Heart is killed during the war. After the war, the humans and elves tell the metallic dragons they want to be left alone to look after themselves. The dragons leave the High Kharolis for a chain of islands to be called the Dragon Isles.
296 AC: All the metallic eggs are stolen from the islands by chromatic dragons, who force the metallic dragons to swear an oath to never return to the mainland, even if they receive pleas for help. If they agree, their eggs will be returned ‘in due time’. The dragons have no choice but to take the oath.
296 - 352 AC: The chromatic dragons, led by Tombfyre and the self-styled ‘Emperor’ Ariakas, who rides him, spread across more than half of Krynn, destroying everything. Silvara leaves the Isles, although no one knows where she has gone.
352 AC: Silvara returns with the news that the metallic eggs have been hatched into monstrous draconians for Tombfyre’s army. The dragons agree to fly with Dragonlances again, including Lectral this time. Lectral kills Tombfyre, but is killed as well. Ariakas is killed when his temple to the Dark Queen collapses on him.
Although the metallic army finally won this last war, the chromatic dragons were never banished again, and both species now coexist in the mountains of Krynn, although they continue to be hereditary enemies.
