"Speaker, I was sorry to hear you are in such poor health." Talidaar says, his voice a trifle louder than necessary. He looks around. "Your mother's messenger was quite insistent that I come without delay" in the same, carrying voice. Satisfied no peepholes are drilled into the walls, he pulls a small silver statuette from a pouch, and sets it on a table. Passing his hand over it in an intricate pattern, the statuette begins glowing blue.
"There." He says, the light, jovial tone gone from his voice. "Now, Gilthas, we may speak without being overheard. I have come, because I have a warning." He looks at the young Speaker "There is an assassin positioned within the Royal Court. I realize you are used to threats on your life, however, with the coming war between Beryl's minions and the Wolverine Army, I fear your enemies will see this as the perfect opportunity to carry out their attempt."

Gilthas exhales and walks to the window and looks out to the world beyond. He turns and says, “Thank you for bidding this news. Of course there’s no short list of suspects, I shall have to be extra careful, for believe there is only a few people that I really trust, my illness is a farce, well, Its not as bad as it used to be, but otherwise I am fit. I carry on the deception for my own and my people’s benefit. When the time comes, I will lead my people to free Qualinesti.”
Gilthas walks to you and then stops and says, In a more perfect world, You would have a room here at the Tower. I would ask you to court and advice me on matters of the world. I would have liked that world.”
“Course in the perfect world I would have never become Speaker, and my Uncle and aunt would have been able to lead both peoples to greatness.
Now there is little hope, just a glimmer of a chance in hell.”

2/26/04
Talidaar looks, really looks, at the young elven male before him. He is surprised at what he finds in his face. Lines in his face where no elf has any business having lines. Not for centuries yet, at the least. They speak of the resolve, the worry, and the strength of the Qualinesti people.
"As long as the people have you, Gilthas, they have hope. I look at your face, and I see what these past years have done to you." Talidaar frowns "You have grown much in the past few decades. You have risen to a challenge no Speaker - of Sun or Stars - has ever faced: Leading your people during a time of Occupation." Now the Druid smiles "And done so with more intelligence and subterfuge than any would have believed you capable."
He sits down, pulling a flask from his pouch. He takes a nip, and offers it to Gilthas. As soon as Gilthas swallows, he can feel warmth and vitality suffuse his body. When he attempts to hand the flask back, Talidaar shakes his head. "Keep it. It is Mother's Milk. It will temporarily banish aches and pains, ease cough, increase alertness, and give you a boost of energy. Also" He pulls a small leaf-wrapped packet "this powder is very special. It will neutralize any poison, no matter how rare. Keep it with you at all times. Granted, it won't help if the assassin chooses something more...direct, but at least it will provide some protection."
He stands "I will leave you some tea which will soothe your chronic symptoms. That, for your court to find; a reason for my visit. Do use it, though, for it will help for your day to day activities." He bows to the young Speaker "I would have enjoyed membership to your court, Speaker. I like the young elf I see before me. If you have need of me again, send word through your Kagonesti, they will find me wherever I might be."
He walks toward the door "One last thing. I have recently set into motion certain events, which will change things, hopefully to our advantage. Beryl, though she knows it not, has a new, powerful enemy on Ansalon. If word comes to you of creatures like yet not quite like dragons, you will have heard of my plans."

You leave the Tower of Suns and mount your griffon and take to the sky feeling good about the meeting with Gil. Besides the buffoon Palthinon, you think that was the best visit you have ever had in Qualinost.
Tal gets home to Dae Dyrnastaerynfalos at Eleventh Watch* and hug Lashia tight and tell her what transpired at the Tower of the Suns. You have nice home cooked dinner and hold the babies a little then kiss your wife and change robes and grasp your Staff. You set out down the path to the meting place of the Council of the Wood and your Circle of Druids. You speak to them about reawakening of the Wurms.

"Greetings, my friends. I would hear what has transpired in my absence, both within Merwellyn and without. However, I have glorious news, and a new member to add to this august council, and I ask your indulgence to share these with you first, for both may bear greatly on our plight.
In the first, I have found the Valley of Chislev. Within the Valley, I also encountered another other Hierophant named Nerise and a Kagonesti Druid named Svarre. We discovered the legacy the Goddess left us. When Huma banished Takhisis and her children, Palidine bid his children to sleep as well. So to, did Gilean and Chislev - then known as Obad-Hai - bid their children, known as the Coda; or Wurms.
My friends; Council members, I present Vorexsanth; Alpha Male of the Coda."

Council of Merwellyn Wood
Part 15
By The DM
One by one, the council of the wood speaks of the goings on of the Forest. Queen Xyches speaks of what is transpiring in the Formorian Kingdom in the south hills. Baggens speaks of the Brownies, Espira talks of the Dryad’s concerns, and Mira tells the recent tales of lake.
Then Crystar Asturi of the Griffon pride of Merwellyn give an overhead review on what transpires in the lands beyond Merwellyn, the coming battle between the Overlord and the Wolverines.
Zshipp of the Quicklings also has been observing the military buildup beyond the boarders of Merwellyn, but from the ground.
Chieftain Firemane of the Centaur Clan tells of a Plainsmen civil war that has been going on thru the winter. It is drawling to a close with Chieftain Moonsong’s side being the victors.
Sprig, The Unicorn Tyoniera, and Queen Adalia of the Pixies all speak of the dark activities of the evil Unseelie of Darken Wood. The Unseelie has sided with the Goblins against the Wolverines.
You listen carefully to all that is said, and then thoughtfully speak.
When you are finished with the Council, you look and see your assembled Druids also wish to speak. You tell them that at Darkwatch*, the Circle will meet in the Glade of Assembly. They nod their heads and depart when the meeting is over.
*Darkwatch is 12 Midnight
When the Council is over, you go to Lashia and see her.
Home
Part 16
By David
Talidaar enters the warm and inviting house, and crosses to the great room. He stops in the doorway, and fondly watches his beautiful wife playing with their children. Lashia has been a wonderful mate and surrogate mother for Merricalanna, Lasanathus, and Nebricallana. Still, Talidaar had known Lashia wanted children of her own for a long time. "Now she is complete,” He thinks, smiling as he walks into the room.
"Lashia, my Heart, I have missed you." his gaze takes in the twins cuddling on their mother's lap "All three of you." He sits down next to them, and pulls all three into his arms. The four of them stay cuddled, enjoying this rare moment of peace in a land where such moments are indeed few and far between.

“ I love you Tal. I’m glad you are home safe. The babies are beautiful and doing fine, they’re two months old now. Nebris has not come home from Wolfgaard yet, and the Twins are on a mission for the Conclave heading to the Dragon Isles right now.”
“Karnea is off doing her own thing, and Analis is heading toward Godhome to investigate some wild Kender tale from Longshot about how worshipers gathered there and Dark Knights moved in and slaughtered them all, but not before Longshot talks to these worshipers and they tell him that the One God is among them. I can’t believe she heading there alone, but I am going to join her if she needs my aide.”
“The Wolverines are on Qualinesti’s boarders, prepared for war in the spring, which nears. Next month is Spring Dawning. My father has come out of retirement to be the liaison between the Wolverines and the Elves. Apparently the Dwarves, Wolverines and the Elves agreed to work together at Pax Tharkas.”
“What the fey told you was just the half of it. Wolverine scouts went in along the White Rage river to recon and the unseelie ferries messed with real bad. Nara Dawn was going to talk to the Forest Master to see what could be done, but it is the Wolverines that entered Darken Wood. The fae here claim the unseelie are letting the Goblins operate in and around Darken Wood. That’s what the other Druids are going to talk to about later.”
“I also wanted to tell you that the Wolverines are facing down Undead at the frontlines, near Gadar’s Citadel.”

"Enraged Dragons couldn't keep me away from you tonight!" He says with an appreciative look at Lashia's figure. He plants another, not-so- gentle kiss soundly on her lips. Circle of Merwellyn
Part 21
By the DM
You and Kass leave the house and follow the path to the Grove of the Circle, where the circle has met since its inception more then thirty years ago.
The circle is here, all gathered at the appointed time.
Your friend and long time assistant, the half-elf Liam, Arch-Druid Loren Renick (your friend of 70 years, used to political advisor when you was still the Grand Druid.)
Argus, the companion of Loren, Kadir Red Claw of the Kagonesti Tribe of Merwellyn, Druid Nara Dawn (20-year student of yours, came to live in Merwellyn when she was 11.) Antevre Relth of the Rangers of Merwellyn and Kaylin Lifetree, the Grand Druid of Krynn. (Kagonesti).
All come to you and welcome you home. Grand Druid Kaylin Lifetree bows her head to you in deference and smiles warmly. You have taught her since she came to live in this forest with her tribe. Your heart swells with pride seeing her here. More pressing matters must be attended to though.
Plans of the Hierophant
Part 22
By David
Talidaar warmly greets his friends, shaking hands and exchanging hugs. They have enjoyed each other's company in the quiet times; they've seen each other’s mettle in hard times. "Now the hard times are getting harder." the hierophant thinks wryly.
After a few moments, the Kagonesti, the Druids and the Ranger sit down, and the Guardian of the Grove calls the Quarters and Closes the Circle. All of the Traditions are kept, which is why only Druids and Rangers are allowed (the Kagonesti Shaman and warrior Talidaar long ago understood were every bit as much Druid and Ranger as the others)
"My friends, I have spoken already of the good news I have brought with me from the Valley of Chislev. Now we must turn our thoughts to the dark circumstances we find ourselves in.
Merwellyn Wood as a whole - and our Grove in particular - has withstood the assault of a Death knight, the onslaught of the God Chaos, the loss of god-magic, the terror of the Dragon Wars, and the occupation of the Dragon Overlords. Now we face yet another threat: an unknown God, leeching energy - from the world, the Mages, the Priests, even the Overlords.
I have every confidence that the Grove and the Wood will survive this as well, but it will not be easy. This Circle will be extremely busy in the next few months, both in Merwellyn, and out in the world at large. I have assignments for all of us to take on, and additional assignments for the Woodland Circle*."
Talidaar looks to each Circle member in turn "Loren & Argus, I want you to travel to Qualinost, and spread the word of the Wurms return to any Qualinesti and Kagonesti Druids and Rangers you can find. Tell them the Green's time of Domination is soon coming to an end, and we will need their help. They should begin readying themselves. I know the political situation is complicated as all Hells, and for that reason I know of no other better qualified than you, Loren."
Talidaar turns to Nara Dawn; one of his favorite students "Nara, I want you to go north, to Xak Tsaroth. We need to know what the goings-on are around there, the Swamps have always been Merwellyn's weakest border."
Next on Talidaar's list is the Ranger "Antevre, I want you to travel to the Wolverines, and act as Liaison for Merwellyn. They are Military; they will respect you more so than a druid. I don't mean for you to stay there, but you should tell them of the Wurms, and find out what their battle plans are.
Talidaar then looks over to the Kagonesti Grand Druid "Kaylin, we desperately need to know what - if anything - is going on with the Silvanesti. Would you have some Rangers you trust go, find out, and report back? Thank you."
Finally, Talidaar turns to one of his dearest friends "Liam, I need you and Kadir to ready the Wood for potential attack. Even with the Woodland Circle, we all know there are still factions within the wood, and some of the peoples here can be pretty stubborn about helping."
Finally Talidaar stands and Opens the Circle. There is more talk of course, for those traveling will need supplies, mounts and so forth. The Circle members don't leave for perhaps an hour more, while details are ironed out.
Talidaar excuses himself as quickly as he can without being rude. There is a certain White Robed Elven Goddess Talidaar wants to, um, worship...
Exodus
Part 23
By the DM
Over the next few days, the Druids and Rangers of your circle that were tasked to journeys far and wide from Merwellyn have left the wood. Liam and Kadir have meetings throughout the day with the Woodland Council members, and Nara Dawn has left to travel north on Griffon back to the land of Xak Tsaroth.
So too, do some of the wurms begin to leave the wood. Questions are asked of what this world is like now has the Druids of Merwellyn scrambling to answer all the questions.
The Swamp Wurm Merek decides he will go north and see this Swamp near Xak Tsaroth to have time to decide his next move. The birds have said what lies to the west, and it sounds fun, this New Swamp.
Kerex the Sand Wurm leaves Merwellyn and goes into the Plans of Dust. He explores the with and berth of the Desert land.
Groll goes in the plains of Abanasinia, and finds many hostiles. He has been warned away from Wolverines, and the Dark Knights and Goblins in the elfland called Qualinesti.
He enters the forest at night and heads south, to the foothills of the Kalkhist Mountains. The Hill Wurm passes by the Capital, Qualinost, and is intrigued with the Knights and the Elves. He goes south, thru a gorge in the mountains, tracking some hill giants, and coming into the Hills of Hillow.
A Kingdom of Hill Dwarves is here. He grudgingly goes around them and looks longer for his new home.
Modak follows Groll south, and then he enters the Cloudseeker Mountain Range, among the tallest in the world.
Of the ones that decide to stay another few days,
The River Wurm Lol and her mate has decided to stay a few more days in Merwellyn’s lake then trek off to the North, where the fabled Vingaard River in Solamnia.
Myra stays in the lands around the wood, looking out to the horizon. She is a Grassland Wurm, and she is deciding where to go next.
Jono and his mate are going to live around Abanasinia. They love Talidaar’s wood, but they have heard of the craziness in Qualinesti, and wish to see this Darken Wood. They will stay around Merwellyn until Spring Dawning.
All of this makes you sad, but you have the word of Vortex that these Wurms will gather when the time comes for action.
The day after the council meetings, and after you have spent the night with Lashia, there is things to do. The flight to Darken Wood will not take long at all, and is the top of your list.
Invitation to Darken Wood
Part 24
By David
Talidaar repacks his pouches, his pockets, his satchel, and his backpack with all of the material spell components, herbs, tinctures, oils, and salves he carries regularly. He kisses his wife and children good-bye, and heads to the portion of Merwellyn the Coda have used during their stay. When he arrives, he finds Vortex.
"Vorexanth, I am traveling to Darken Wood, protectorate of the Forest Master. I understand Jono and his mate have expressed interest in going there, and I propose they accompany me. The Forest Master knows me, and will allow me entrance without hindrance into her domain."
Journey
Part 25
By the DM
Talidaar and his companions and the forest Wurm couple set out of Merwellyn for Darken Wood, across the Abanasinian Plains. The group will cross thru the occupation zone of the Wolverine Army.
It has been a time since you rode your horse, and set about saddling him and pack everything away.
Tal gathers his animal followers that will be taking the trip with him and the group set out.
Jono Fangoth and his mate Finduilas are good traveling companions and favor their company. They are quiet and introspective, but curious, and inquisitive on many subjects.
It is practically spring, the snow is melting and it is warmer, your favorite time of the year.
It takes all day and near nightfall to make it to the wood. The wurms are just not fast traveling companions, but that is okay. You have been running and fighting for nearly a year now, and faced many trials. This one will be a friendlier affair, as you have not seen the Forest Master in an Age.
You and the band arrive and decide what to do next.

Council of the Wood Scene 2
Part 10
By David

“Greetings denizens of Merwellyn, I Vorexsanth of the Coda, wish to thank all of you for your kind welcome of we, the Wurms of the Coda. My race will only here for another day, then they will venture forth into the world to bring the balance of Chislev’s nature back to the way it is supposed to be. I have been told of the Overlords. Strong foes, aye. But we will bring back the Balance in this, the Age of “Mortals.”

Then, with a theatrical sigh, he stands up. "Well, I suppose I should head for the grove. The council will want to reconvene soon."
